File Hosting Sites? (+500MB)

Does anyone know of any good FREE file hosting sites that I can put up file of aprox 550MB or more?

If not, does anyone know of good compression software besides WinRar that can compress and remove, say, 200MB off a totals file size?

This is not Doom related, but it would be helpful. Thanks!

7-zip can compress, on average, better than Winzip and Winrar (maximum compression, solid archiving). However there can't be any guarantee of trimming off a fixed size or fixed percentage of a certain file's size (unless the contents are really trivial, like all zeroes. But then the flaw would be in the program creating those space-inefficient files).

If that was possible, then you could apply compression recursively (e.g. 1% at the first iteration, 1% at the second one etc. etc. thus eventually reducing everything at 1 byte size (or less!). Just not possible.

FileFront, but you need time to download a big file…

These two services, while free, require registration, which may not be a good idea if what you're trying to share is not exactly material that would leave the RIAA totally indifferent...in which case, you'd better split files using winrar or 7-zip and use an anonymous surfer like xbBrowser for uploading.
