Wow, I disagree with all you anti-bathtub puter users as being desperate or pathetic... not withstanding the hazard, the tub is the perfect place to use a laptop to chat or twit or DW forum or what have you. I would do it if I wasn't afraid of dying like she did. I doubt she was desperate.. she prolly just lacked a healthy level of fear of laptop and water.. or she may have just been really dumb and not even considered the hazard.

@Creaphis et al. Hasn't eugenics been shown not to work? Plus the way genetics and inheritance works, removing a stupid person doesn't mean future offspring would have been stupid too (although I suppose there's a greater chance). Anyway, the Darwin Award is a joke.. not something to be taken seriously.

As well as car accidents, dog attacks, and "white deaths" (those occurring during a job). These happen everyday, but usually remain in the current crimes/deaths sections of local newspapers, and only go national or even international if they can be made to sound artificially sensational gain national or worldwide notoriety. Pretty common journalist tactics.

Compare "a teen is electrocuted in Romania" with "Twit dies in bathtub while Twittering". Without the Tweet factor to make it "hip" and possibly emotively charged, you would probably care as much as for "5 Greek soldiers electrocuted while raising flag pole" (which happened in 2004, but just saying).

I sometimes take a book to the tub, when I have time. One book once fell in the water a bit, a pity because the pages got wrinkled a little, but on the other hand, I didn't die :p

But really, I dislike web 2.0 in general. It kills.

Edit:However, it is very sad that this happened. My statement, when more clearly thought out is as follows: This obsession with internet connectivity and the "web 2.0" stuff is starting to take its toll on people in general. It's sad that this happened, but the need for connectivity (which I am assuming is the bigger issue) and the change of attention may become (and in this case has become) dangerous.

Actually, he had the website a couple years before he met her. From what I heard, she never played Doom before coming across his website. She was looking up information on Rome for a school project. At least that's how the story goes.

If this story is indeed real, then I cannot begin to question the stupidity of some people out there.
