Shouldn't this film have an NC17 rating? That may have been the only time I've walked out on a movie because it was so bad. Why would I want to see a gay porno on the big screen? How come there was no warning about this? At my movie theater they had a piece of paper on the counter that said "No children under 17 without an adult" which is technically the case for any R rated film. Do you think this film should have been Rated NC17 instead?

For those of us who haven't seen it, would you mind explaining what you found so objectionable?

Are you sure you want to know? It isn't pretty.... Highlight not if you are offended averagely.

Spoiler

1.The full frontal nudity shot where Brüno is buck naked and his dick and balls are flailing about in slow motion.
2. The bicycle exercise machine made into a dildo with Brüno pedaling it while some dude is taking it up the ass.
3. And the the scene where Brüno mimes gay oral sex in painfully graphic detail (sucking, fingering, licking and catching cum in his mouth) all mimed as if he was caught in the clutches of an uncontrollable sexual fantasy that he just had to act out in impeccably without missing any minute detail. Oh yeah, and the anus bleaching scene. Not all that graphic, but do I really need to hear about it Brüno?

Basically the kind of stuff you'd find in a gay porno.

Maybe I'm homophobic.. but it just seems certain lines shouldn't be crossed, and Mr. Cohen feels the need to cross them just for the sake of pushing the MPAA envelope or what have you....

I wasn't planning on seeing it, but now I know I'm not seeing it. I'd heard about the nudity and all, but I honestly don't want to pay to see a gay porn. Hell, I wouldn't pay to see a porno.

Bruno = not funny. I haven't heard of so many people walking out of a movie in... well, ever really.

The sad thing is, Sacha Baron Cohen is quite funny when he's just being himself. The Bruno character is so stereotypical and predictable, making fun of gay people was good in the 90s, but we've heard all the jokes now. There's only so many things you can associate with a dick before it becomes boring.

He tried to do the whole "uncomfortable comedy" thing in Borat with the naked fat man chase. From what I've heard, the Bruno movie is just 2 hours of that scene.

I get the idea of trying to push the limits of what people consider comedy, but I don't really think this is the way to do it.

Bruno fails.

I'm seeing this tonight, I can't wait!

Hellbent:
Oh mah delicate sensibilities!

None of that stuff sounds particularly bad. Aanybody who's spent a couple years on the internet has probably seen all that before, besides the whole intent of the movie is to offend and provide humor through offense.

A bit of gay porn never did anybody any harm, unless you're afraid that Bruno is going to turn you gay or something.

Edit: Also, it's bound to be better than another fucking Seth Rogan movie. I hate that dickweed.

I'm not sure that I have ever seen him being himself. He's always been playing a character when I've seen him.

I think my time on the darker sides of the net had pretty much desensitized me from anything that can been seem visually. To experience such content in on a whole new level, and let’s leave it at that.

The movie was good, sure it have lots of homosexual stuff but thats what make it different from any othet comedy. Plus half of the people we see in the movie aren't even real actors. Seeing their reaction to what Bruno does is what make it so great.

It would have been more funny if Paula Abdul had been herself instead of that scene (and others) being completely staged. Best part of the movie is when Harrison Ford tells him to fuck off.

I almost walked out on Borat, so there's no chance in hell I'm going to see this. I do not understand his kind of "humor" at all.

Gay porn? A funny excuse for walking out of a movie. Reading that reminded me of some of the Shortbus reviews I've read.

I could kind of understand why people were leaving in the middle of Irreversible, but the idea of 'gay porn' being 'offensive' is hilarious.

Oh god, I've seen parts of Irreversible. That is truly a horrifying movie. I doubt I could watch the whole thing.

I don't like looking at other men's genitalia or focusing inordinate amounts of screen time on it... what is so hilarious about that?

We suffer from the same disease Hellbent. Other men’s genitals threaten us because ours are so inadequate.

I’m guessing all your porno from yester-year was strictly lesbian.

If you don't find crass genitalia humor funny, it's because you're insecure.

Oh, I find it funny. But it took of years of therapy to over come such a hurdle.

Or because you have standards.

Yeah, I never got the whole "making the audience vomit from every orifice = comedy" standard that's been active for the last decade or so.

Agreed. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer a more subtle sort of humour, or at least humour that can't be summed up to "PENIS PENIS PENIS".

Reading responses in regards to the movie, I'd say the movie was a pretty successful in regards to what it was supposed to be.

Except, he isn't making fun of homosexuals. But homophobia. The humour comes from people having a stereotypical gay man in their face. He has an interview with a christian who "converts" gay people to straight, for instance, and bruno ends up making him squirm.

Call me homophobic, but if any man acted that way directly to me, I'd feel a little uncomfortable. I can see his angle, but honestly, I don't need a lesson on how to think of gay people. They don't bother me.
