Doom Marine Posted July 26, 2009 I was wondering for the longest time why certain things never show up in dehacked, like the ability to modify fist, bullet, or explosion damage, even though stuff like projectile damage values can easily be changed? 0 Share this post Link to post
printz Posted July 26, 2009 Maybe because Greg Lewis and Matt Fell couldn't find the bytes in the code controlling that? Projectile damage values are in the thing table. Not true about general damages, like explosion or hitscan, or randomization formulae. They are in the code. I guess 128 is a far too common number to have the projectile damage easily found. But they did find the BFG ammo/shot number after all, as well as the other player numbers. 0 Share this post Link to post
arrrgh Posted July 26, 2009 Was the ability to change stuff like that added in BEX? It wouldn't have been very hard to add something like that. 0 Share this post Link to post

arrrgh Posted July 26, 2009 What were these new sections that BEX added? 0 Share this post Link to post

arrrgh Posted July 26, 2009 Cool, thanks! Also, are the Eternity extensions supported in other ports like PrBoom+, ZDoom, Doomsday etc? 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted July 26, 2009 Q: Stuff that's not possible with DeHacked? A: Modding the game in a reliable and powerful manner. It was useful when there was nothing else, but once the code was released, something like DDF/DED/EDF/DECORATE/RMOD/WHATEVER should have been developed for Boom instead of BEX. arrrgh said:Also, are the Eternity extensions supported in other ports like PrBoom+, ZDoom, Doomsday etc? No. Some of the MBF extensions are available in ZDoom, but not Eternity's own. License issue. (MBF was released under the DSL and the GPL, Eternity is GPL only, and ZDoom is DSL only.) Doomsday supports Boom and that's all AFAIK. Same for PrBoom. 0 Share this post Link to post

Prboom has supported the main MBF features (more so than most other ports, and only missing some of Killough's more esoteric stuff) for many years (since version 2.1.0 back in 2000, in fact). If you simply don't know something, it is more helpful to other people not to make a claim about it. 0 Share this post Link to post
