Gunner Posted August 28, 2009 To hell with it. I'm going to make my own version of the entire Doom 2 soundtrack. Don't you think it would go well with a remake of the Doom2.wad? (Example: http://forums.newdoom.com/showthread.php?t=33755_ New ones: Map03 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwbPPUVc6vM Map02 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsM7fdS_FPE E1M5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80_URS3YFTw Doom 2 Title Music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNJkh1w1bFU Doom 2 Interlevel Music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuPoOtW2T-M Previous ones: E1M7 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKZng9HKRUU Map01 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84hlaGEgfnM Thanks for listening 0 Share this post Link to post
Ultraboy94 Posted August 28, 2009 your E1M7 and MAP01 covers are great, they add some extra atmosphere to the songs, but dont stray too far from the original. i like them. if you post the mp3s somewhere ill get them. E1M5 dosent have much thats isnt already in other covers to be honest. also you posted E1M5 as E1M7. i dont knwo if thats a typo or a mistake. 0 Share this post Link to post
Reisal Posted August 28, 2009 Do you have downoad links to these songs somewhere? Some people may want to use them in their personal music PWADs. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gunner Posted August 28, 2009 I'll upload them when the whole project is completed. So far I've been able to make one song a week, that's a pretty ratio. Right now I don't know if I want to do just my favourite ones or the entire soundtrack. If people are going to use them for their own WADs, I may do my version of the entire soundtrack for consistency. Thanks for the positive feedback. 0 Share this post Link to post
Reisal Posted August 29, 2009 Why were the original uploads of E1M7 and E1M5 removed before you reuploaded/fixed them? It showed "video unavailable" when I checked my YT favorites. 0 Share this post Link to post

I don't know. I uploaded them again last night because I added more stuff. Might not be the last time I do that either. 0 Share this post Link to post
gggmork Posted August 30, 2009 listened to e1m7 and sounds pretty great (and the visuals were fitting- a rare occurance when listening to music on youtube). Fruity loops or something? Might as well ask here.. what general music scale & chord structure tends to be used in music that sounds 'doomy' in general? The major scale tends to sound 'happy' (not doomy).. or I just suck at making tense/scary/gloomy/etc music. A-minor is the same as c-major sorta, and I guess sounds more doomy.. I read that the 1,4 & 5 chords are the most often used or something.. does doomy music usually use that type of formula? How many beats does a chord typically last.. and do you just make any random pattern out of 1/4/5's.. like maybe 1,4,5,4,1,5,4,4,repeat (or something)? Is it typically only 1/4/5 or often other chords too? If its not obvious, by 1/4/5 I mean: for example in A minor (all white keys starting on A): 1 = a/c/e chord 4 = d/f/a chord 5 = e/g/b chord 0 Share this post Link to post
Super Jamie Posted August 30, 2009 These are getting alot better now, you're putting a fuller sound into them, emphasising different areas than the originals and making the tracks your own. Totally hanging for you to do E1M3 and E1M8 hey :) 0 Share this post Link to post

You can take the same measure and play it in blues 12 bar, and then the second time around have different instruments playing the same thing. It is a dirty little trick but we don't seem to mind. I'm the wrong guy to be asking about music theory, but you haven't heard doomy music until you've heard the genre of music that's actually called "doom metal". I know these guys from Myspace, and it will tear your fucking head off: http://www.myspace.com/bongripper 0 Share this post Link to post
