Except the shooter wasn't a caucasian male. He was an American citizen of Palestinian descent. Apparantly he was harrassed by others in the military after the 9/11 attacks. His family said that he was constantly harrassed and called a camel jockey. However, his cousin believes that it was his upcoming deployment to Iraq that set him off. 0 Share this post Link to post
DoomsdayRooster Posted November 6, 2009 How many people have to die before guns are banned from the military? This is a classic example of what no gun control leads to. These deaths could have been prevented. 0 Share this post Link to post

Coopersville Posted November 6, 2009 The Army isn't going to like the fact that they were played for fools. It isn't going to be long now before this random crazy person is exploited for some anti-Muslim debacle. Not unlike the Columbine shooting and Doom, I'm thinking. Ironically, Mr. Hassan has probably screwed over 'his people' for at least another half-decade. 0 Share this post Link to post

That's what I was thinking, but second thinking this leads me to realize that this puts pressure on the issue in such a way that people will be forced to reconcile amongst themselves where their moral standpoint truly is (which could ultimately either be good for Muslims or bad, perhaps equally). Condemning this by attribution of being Muslim would be to throw away the moral high ground. That would be the true Terrorists Win outcome, perhaps. All of this speaking in very general terms, of course. 0 Share this post Link to post
magicsofa Posted November 6, 2009 It sucks if he was really given a lot of shit, especially since he was on their side, but still - unforgivable The article was also really bad 0 Share this post Link to post
SuperSlammer2 Posted November 6, 2009 I have a friend at Fort Hood. He was injured in this incident, and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was worried sick about him when I heard there was a shooting going on, and I hoped for the best. I'm so glad he's alive, but I'm still very upset about this and the lives lost that day. Why do people turn to killing other people? Is life really that bad that you have to take it out on the rest of humanity by taking their lives? The gunners can rot, and may the victims rest in peace. 0 Share this post Link to post

He yelled "ALLAH HU AKBAR!!!" before he started shooting everybody. 0 Share this post Link to post
Visplane Overflow Posted November 7, 2009 He managed a pretty good kill streak considering he was playing on Nightmare Difficulty. The enemy AI were well armed, reinforcements were nearly unlimited and despite that, he actually survived - consider that Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were playing on Easy mode and in Cooperative setting and they had to ragequit once the going got too tough. 0 Share this post Link to post
DuckReconMajor Posted November 7, 2009 I'm sure there's some families wishing the victims would respawn. 0 Share this post Link to post

trooper077 Posted November 7, 2009 I can see why this guy cracked He's a psychiatrist who probably dealt with the soliders coming back from afghanistan,he heard all of their horror stories from the war,he then learns that he's getting shipped off to afghanistan, knowing that he's a muslim and the actual terrorists would see him as a traitor and pick him off first. I can *******ely see why this guy snapped,he's not a terrorist he's just a guy who had alot of stress and needed help himself. The news projecting it as all muslims are terrorists is bullshit. 0 Share this post Link to post
TheeXile Posted November 7, 2009 Wouldn't he have been going in just to continue doing what he was already doing, though? I'm pretty sure the military wouldn't send their educated specialists out to be shot at so eagerly. If he joined the military thinking they weren't going to make use of him, that's his own damn fault. There's no mistaking belligerent intent here in my eyes. He has no moral high ground. 0 Share this post Link to post

Lesson learned: if you're going to overthrow a well-liked centuries-old monarchy, you had best make sure you got rid of them completely if you really want to rest in peace. tl;dr Don't fuck with the English government. That goes for you too, Guy Fawkes. 0 Share this post Link to post
gravitar Posted November 7, 2009 The wounds in the public mind must not be allowed to heal. Control over people is easier in a climate of fear and insecurity. Isn't it strange that these shootings always occur in regular time patterns ? And the shooter gets always killed or offs himself ? MKULTRA at work ? (the shooter is even said to be a psychiatrist.....) Here's also a very interesting thread about this issue, it's a german forum, but many links are also in english. http://www.freezonechef.servertalk.in/freezonechef-ftopic13898.html 0 Share this post Link to post

To kill friendlies, I mean. Of course the 'scary terrorist' PR attempt is pitifully transparent. I am far from a fan of Alex Jones as an individual regardless of the accuracy of his warnings, but he raises some interesting questions. In the hours after the event, we were told that Hasan was upset about being deployed to Iraq at the end of the month. This then mutated into the notion that Hasan was “anti-war” and later we were informed that he was “facing an FBI investigation for expressing sympathy with suicide bombers.” The fact that this was known by authorities six months ago and still Hasan was not only allowed to remain at the Army base, but also invited to participate in Homeland Security exercises only raises more red flags. And all sorts of other stuff I've read but will take with a grain of salt until all the facts are documented (not the hurriedly reported factoids.) 0 Share this post Link to post
