prBoom-plus 2.5.0.5 released

Recommended Posts

A new version of Andrey "e6y" Budko's demo-centric port prBoom-plus is out. The important changes include fixing MP3/Ogg WAD music playback under Vista/Windows 7 and sky display issues (stretching and scrolling) in skybox mode. The new version also introduces a unique feature that facilitates video capture of the in-game footage, as well as fixes for several minor bugs. See the changelog for the complete list or download the Windows build directly.

This latest version 2.5.0.5 is truly awesome in every way imo. Besides the other fixes, this version also fixes a problem where earlier, it wasn't possible to get SFX when using hardware synthesizers under Vista/7, at least on some systems. But now it works perfectly, thanks "Entryway"!

PrBoom+ is my go-to source port when I don't feel like playing multiplayer.

Thanks for all your hard work, entryway!

The Mac OS X version keeps crashing as soon as I try loading it up. :(

Are you the only one person who have crash? In any case, I can't do anything, because have no MAC. Neil (he makes MAC releases for me) is informed. Probably you can give more useful info instead of "keeps crashing"

Oh neat, didn't know prboom+ supported mp3 within the wad. Can't find any documentation about how to implement one though, and I don't know of any wads that do so can't study by example...

Anyone know how ?

Ogg music and HiRes textures are here.

http://www.doomworld.com/vb/wads-mods/48673-hell-ground-7-levels-megawad-by-eternal/

There is no difference between MUS, MIDI, MOD, S3M, MP3, Ogg, etc. Just put them with correct name to your wad. D_RUNNIN for MAP01 for example. HiRes textures / flats / sprites / gfx should be placed between HI_START and HI_END markers and must have no-hires analogues.

That sounds pretty neat - does that mean you can record a video file of the in-game footage? How do you do that?

Yeah, but I thought maybe the new prboomplus could record a video file without needing other programs. Thanks for the links. A tutorial would be great.

You have crash in Launcher? I even did not see MAC launcher. Only on screenshot one time. :) It's not my code. Try to start prboom-plus directly, not through launcher.

All I did was double click on the PrBoom-Plus icon, it tries to open, then crashes. I tried running it from Terminal instead, but it crashed again. Not much difference in the crash report, but I'll post it anyway;

Sad face. I'll just have to wait until I get Snow Leopard in a few months time then. :(

Thanks anyway though. :D

You can compile prboom-plus for any. I know nothing about Mac, but it is very strange for me to have incompatibility between something like 10.5 and 10.6. It is bad to have incompatibility at all. Windows version of prboom-plus runs fine with 10+ years old Win9x and with Vista.
