Post your PC and Setup

Recommended Posts

I'm a bit bored at the moment and am quite intrested in all your computers and setups. Post your PC, preferabbly showing you network setup, additional devices (external drives, etc) and post your PCs specs and such. I'm intrested in seeing what you guys have and your opinions on it.

I have this Acer Aspire (M3202), upgraded with Windows 7!

http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/4052/dscf0006p.jpg

- Windows 7
- AMD Phenom Triple-Core Processor
- 3 GB RAM (Im upgrading this to about 5 GB soon when I get my first paycheck.)
- 640 GB HDD (I'm getting a 1 terrabyte external hd for christmas hopefully : ) .
- DVD Super Multi drive with Label Flash
- ATI Radeon 3200 Graphics

I also, as you can see, have an HD TV as a monitor via a VGA cable, which I also use to play Xbox 360 on, which is on my dresser to the left. I use an external wireless adapter on my PC as seen in the video (D-Link). And basic additions like a mic.

I'll probably be posting photos of my complete setup, including networking and etc.

So I ask you guys to post your PCs and Setups too.

Avery

I'm using a bargain basement Gateway computer that I bought four years ago. It's surprisingly reliable. The only thing I've had to replace was a stick of RAM that failed. My OS is a copy of XP from a shovelware-ridden restore disk yet I can leave this thing on for weeks without any performance issues.

And sometimes I still play Doom on it.

OK, I'll bite. I don't have the good camera with me right now, though.

That's my main rig, with a Phenom quad-core and a 9600GT and 4Gb RAM. Right now it doesn't get used for much because I just upgraded to Win7.

Here's my backup computer with an Athlon 64 and a 7300GS and 2Gb RAM. It runs Ubuntu 9.10 and hopefully it'll be used as a DAW soon.

I also have a number of laptops. There's an Athlon dual core running Win7, a Pentium 2 266MHz running Win2k, a Pentium I 150MHz running Win95, and a netbook running Ubuntu NR.

Heh - I had a similar system setup, with 2 disk drives but no TV.

Not so old...

My current computer was mostly ordered from a local computer parts store for about $800:

Windows XP Pro
Intel C2D E6550 @ 2.33GHz
Intel DG33TL mATX Mobo
SoundBlaster X-Fi (gamer ed i think)
Antec 900 Full Tower case
2GB DDR2 @ 333MHz
Lite-on DVD-RW
250GB HDD

I later added:

NV Geforce 8800GT 512MB
80GB + 1TB HDDs
Logitech G5 & Razer exactmat
Saitech Eclipse KB
Samsung 220WM (22") - Primary monitor @ 1680x1050
HP f1703 (17") - Secondary @ 1280x1024
Some older Creative 5.1 speaker setup

Thanks to the GFX card it runs pretty much all games smoothly; All of my DOSBox-emulated games (Doom & clones) run great, runs all games within the past 10 years smoothly on max, some of the later games like Crysis and Quake 4 need the AA taken down a notch to play at high FPS.
Runs Unreal 3-engine games great though. The sound card allows full advantage of EAX, OpenAL through the 5.1 speakers I have. The Eclipse KB is a solidly time-tested KB and the G5 mouse + Razer Mpad is definitely the most precise mouse I have ever used. Having dual screens isn't a requirement for me, but its nice for having Xfire/Steam/etc windows located on the secondary monitor as well as Supreme Commander being the only game I have that utilizes it.

Right now:

Toshiba Satellite R25 Tablet
Acer Aspire One netbook

I ditched all my goodies like my 486, my original Macintosh, the rotting corpse of my top of the line single core AGP 8X rig, etc, when I moved onto campus, but now that I have no gaming computer I'm building a desktop.
