The Video Game Name Generator!

Someone showed me this a bit ago, and I have been amazed at it.

This thing is the Video Game Name Generator, and I think it is one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

This fun web-app does exactly what it says it does, it generates a random video game name (Video Game Idea Generator, anyone?). Sounds simple enough, but let's just take a look at some of its productions:

Romero's drug warning to gamers must have been faked. Here is a recording of an old "automated mouth" that emulated John Carmack, to get him to say what you wanted. This one is an anti-drug PSA, though maybe not effective.

What the hell? I can't imagine any games being named accordingly. Don't all games these days have short one to two-word dark/ominous titles?

I've never played these games or even know much about them but shouldn't they all sound like:

Dead Space
Uncharted
Bio-shock
Fallout
Farcry
Assassin's Creed
etc.

It seems like these generated names give a bit more insight into the game's premise than usual modern game titles. But many of them are open to interpretation, of course.

That's a good point, but not all computer games have short and snappy names, especially not over all of video gaming history. What this name generator is doing is parodying the naming conventions of the vast numbers of crappy shovelware games that have been made for the first home consoles, that have been made as "bargain" titles, that have been made for educational purposes, for masturbatory material, etc. It's not too surprising that you can't think of games with names like this, as most are quickly and rightfully forgotten.

You should be able to think of a few, though, because these ugly naming tropes haven't died away, and oddly enough, are still commonly accepted. For instance, most gamers seem able to hear a title as cumbrous as "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" without flinching.
