Just a little level (Space Station.wad)

Hey again... Alright I decided to give this place another chance. But anyways,

Here is a level I was working on for 5 days or something so I hope you like it!

Yeah I know that you might think the texture choices were not good but I seriously tried my best! If you have any tips to make the textures better or something just tell me (In a nice way ;)

There's something in the map that is REALLY annoying me so I would appreciate if someone fixed it and sent it back to me! The bug is that whenever I go (not always) into the wide tunnels with the red lights in the floor/ceiling then it suddenly acts like a door and goes lower and lower until you must use IDCLIP to go through it. Please help me if you can with that! :P

Anyways I think that's all to say and please don't talk about how much I did wrong cause I know there is bugs and stuff but just post if you like it and what part of it was best :) And tips will also be a nice thing to me!

Looks kind of old school from what I can see in the screenshots. I will make a first attemt demo in GZDoom to see how this plays.

I suggest to remove the SS Nazis, because they dont fit well in doom
theme and adding them is usually considered 'noobish' :)

I just got inspiration from another space station looking like wad file and I saw the guy had put SS nazis in it ☺

Well It's definitely a personal expression.
I couldn't get the yellow card due to the fault you described.
There's also some hom in that corridor, btw. I don't know how to make levels so I can't help you with that.
Most people advise against nazi's and maze like designs but I like nazi's because I always underestimate them and they're seldom used.
I would advise to scrap 3 corridors to make navigating simpler and change the room with archviles due to the invulnerability there's no challenge.
Your level looks rather odd but it matches your username, is highly original and you have an aesthetic talent that you should develop.

cool map. I got stuck in places--and it seems to be buggy? the glitches kinda added to the weird Willy Wonka atmosphere of the map. Are the wooden doors meant to not work?

This is the best map you've ever made, a little buggy and you need to allign some textures but thats not a major issue

Well, by today's standards, many probably wouldn't consider it particularly impressive. However, I personally did enjoy it for the nostalgic value it brought me. It reminded me of some of the older more abstract wads I had played on the archive.

For future notice, I would recommend not putting spaces in the names of your wad files (and perhaps even zipping them). It would make things much more convenient :P.

A solution is to provide replacement sprites and sounds for them, so that they can be used and they still fit in. For example, the rapid fire trooper sprites and sounds. (I haven't checked if the animation frames match well, though.)

In response to the Nazi replacement, you could use a mix of shotgunners and chaingunners.

I like to use the nazi's cause they are very basic and a little harder than shotgun guy but not too hard just someone who is good to walk through the rooms of the space station :)

I actually enjoyed fighting the nazis, they don't "fit" in a normal level of DooM, but they sure as hell fitted in here for some reason, probably cuz of the abstract feel of this level.

Really cool level, keep it up!
