kristus Posted April 22, 2010 It's pretty awful stuff IMO. http://www.smh.com.au/world/antiabortion-bill-to-block-foetal-test-results-20100421-szqu.html 0 Share this post Link to post
Mr. Freeze Posted April 22, 2010 Dude, calm the fuck down. He's CONSIDERING it, it hasn't been passed. Although if it does, fuck Oklahoma. 0 Share this post Link to post
david_a Posted April 22, 2010 Is this considered breaking news in Australia? 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted April 22, 2010 That would be pretty terrible if passed. I hope the federal government comes down hard on them if it does. 0 Share this post Link to post
Spleen Posted April 22, 2010 Big deal, they'll just do a 2-hour drive to a neighboring state. Certainly inconvenient, but not terrible. 0 Share this post Link to post
jute Posted April 22, 2010 What? If one state can do it, other states, including neighboring ones, can too. And it is not hard to imagine Oklahoma's neighbor states pursuing similar legislation. 0 Share this post Link to post
Quasar Posted April 22, 2010 I'm glad I'm not a girl or this would *really* upset me even more than it does already. 0 Share this post Link to post
John Smith Posted April 22, 2010 I can't wait until states like Oklahoma decide to secede and form Jesusland. It will be a happy day for the rest of the country. Until then though, what the fuck are they on? 0 Share this post Link to post
Nightmare Doom Posted April 22, 2010 This basically means more dangerous backally abortions like it happened in the past... 0 Share this post Link to post

phi108 Posted April 22, 2010 I agree that backalley abortions should be avoided, preferrably wiped off the face of the earth. In regards to official abortions/laws, I wouldn't really have a problem with abortion being illegal. The problem arises when there is WAY too much fertilization going on. Indeed, sexual education should be comprehensive, encouraging abstinence, and emphasizing birth control (more accurately "conception control"). There are plenty of anti-abortion people who think contriceptives are bad and also think all people should "wait until marriage", but that's just unrealistic. Teach your kids about safe sex and birth control, or abortions will continue to be an issue. But when pregnancies DO happen, there should be large incentives for the mother to give birth and give it up for adoption, and also huge incentives for couples considering having a baby to adopt, especially those couples considering in-vitro babies. That is a non-Darwinian way of reproduction if I ever saw one. tl/dr: Sorry, I'll try to refrain from posting in moral-issues threads in the future. 0 Share this post Link to post

phi108 Posted April 22, 2010 Sorry, I didn't read the article before my first post, and reading it now, it doesn't sound good. Withholding info about fetal defects and requiring questionnaires and... "The results of the questionnaires would be posted online", huh? It all seems like it's trying to guilt women out of abortions, altogether an icky set of propositions. 0 Share this post Link to post

Mr. Freeze Posted April 22, 2010 I support early-term but oppose late-term. I piss off both parties. 0 Share this post Link to post
geekmarine Posted April 23, 2010 And? It's friggin' Oklahoma. I'm from Oklahoma. The state is in constant competition to out-embarrass itself. Not saying not to care, but really, I kinda tune this sort of thing out when it's Oklahoma. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ralphis Posted April 23, 2010 I support states being able to set their own laws (no matter how stupid they are) without constant federal intrusion (under the conditions that said laws don't contradict any constitutional law). I feel this way about almost everything though, including drug laws, marriage laws, health care, etc. Let Oklahoma do what they want and if you don't like it, move to one of the other 49 states or another country. With that said, like 28 people live in Oklahoma and I doubt Quasar is going to be going in to get an abortion anytime soon, so who cares 0 Share this post Link to post

Anyway, it seems that people are already gearing up to fight these laws. Really it should only be a matter of time before they are overturned by the court system. 0 Share this post Link to post

Aliotroph? Posted April 23, 2010 Anti-abortion laws are the southern socialism. Oh how I hate conservatism. It's like feminism. The whole concept, and indeed even the word, is wrong. 0 Share this post Link to post

RestlessRodent Posted April 23, 2010 The kids shouldn't die due to their mother's who believe they made a mistake. If she doesn't want to get pregnant then DONT HAVE SEX. If you don't want to get your hand burnt don't stick your hand in the fire. Common sense. 0 Share this post Link to post

This sounds like the joke about the man who went to the doctor: -Doc, I want to be able to fuck my wife without either of us using any protection, coming inside her, and all that without her getting pregnant! Can it be done? Am I asking for too much?! -No, you're just asking for ass. 0 Share this post Link to post
geekmarine Posted April 23, 2010 Oh God... Bitching about feminism? Seriously? All it means is equal rights for women. The people who claim the movement is about putting women ahead of men are the people who oppose women's rights. It's been completely misrepresented as a result, and that's why people hate it. You don't hear that crap about "women above men" from actual feminists, nor is it anywhere in their agenda, but the people opposed to it keep making up alleged feminists plots to bring men down. It's like the so-called "gay agenda," where opponents of gay rights keep inventing conspiracies about how gay people are out to corrupt everyone else. Of course there is no real "gay agenda," but people believe it and oppose gay rights as a result. 0 Share this post Link to post
