doom collector's edition question

sorry if this forum isnot the place for my question :(
i got doom collector's edition,
and when i try to play ultimate doom, my mouse just wouldnt get set up :(
it wont even get enabled :(
what should i do?
seems like it is the mouse tab problem in general because when i change mouse setting, press enable, then click some other tab and then go back to mouse tab immediately - the enable button is highlighted again as if the changes i made previously were not saved :((
any suggestions?

And they are basicly new engines for Doom, most of them allow jumping, looking up and down, and other stuff. In case you don't want these features, go get teamtnt.com]PRBoom

In most sourceports always run is capslock, but you should RTFM!

I wouldn't say DooM runs like Quake but yeah, many of the source ports have Quake like features.

i would sudgest zdoom or legacy. those are great ports. doom95 is not that great with new OS's. besides it sucks ass and is full of bugs

Legacy = good for nothing
DosDooM = good for DOS
EDGE = good for DDF and other features
JDooM = good for wasting harddrive space
BooM = good for downloading another doom(2).exe
Vavoom = ugh

i unzipped zdoom.exe and zdoom.wad into my doom dir...
what do i do now? if i run doom, when a console comes up, what do i do? add zdoom as custom wad? or what?
when i add it as a custom wad - the game wouldnt start :(
if i just run zdoom - it says that a ptc.dll is missing :(
what am i doing wrong?

Boom is NOT "just another doom(2).exe" BBG. Do you know how much fucking work went into that port? And then how many source ports are based on it?

I have run into the mouse problem as well. I'm running the Collector's Edition on Windows 2000 and the ReadMe states that the mouse just won't work with Windows 2000. It also says that Jdoom (I think that was it) may fix the problem. Unfortunitly I'm running on a laptop and Jdoom requires a voodoo card. Will one of these ports solve my problem or am just hammered on this one?
