Remilia Scarlet Posted June 25, 2010 I couldn't stop laughing at the sheer idiocy of this article. Yeah, I know, it's Fox News so I shouldn't expect much to begin with. But this takes the cake. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/06/11/everyday-items-hackers-targeting-right/ 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted June 25, 2010 It's actually very saddening. People are actually stupid enough to believe shit like this. 0 Share this post Link to post
Whoo Posted June 25, 2010 Barely any of the news casters that report on hacking have any idea what they're talking about. Take the one lady who's always babbling on about it on Good Morning America for example. 0 Share this post Link to post
Aliotroph? Posted June 25, 2010 There's not much in there that isn't believable. The headline and opening bit just exaggerates the danger. Sure, you could hack a wi-fi-based automation system and start a blender, but the chances of seeing it happen are basically zero. They also don't make distinctions between the various sorts of computers installed in cars. The important ones are only hackable if you have access to the hardware. What bothers me is they write these things with intent to scare people. It makes life harder for everybody else. 0 Share this post Link to post
Doom Marine Posted June 25, 2010 People who watch Fox News are the same gullibles who believed some Jew 2,000 years ago can turn water into wine, come on now. 0 Share this post Link to post
fruitybubbles17 Posted June 26, 2010 What purpose would hacking a blender serve anyone, anyways? 0 Share this post Link to post
Aliotroph? Posted June 26, 2010 Their justification was it could be used as a distraction while somebody breaks in. 0 Share this post Link to post
bytor Posted June 26, 2010 I KNEW those damn commies were invading my blender! *BURP* 0 Share this post Link to post
magicsofa Posted June 26, 2010 Isn't it only blenders that are hooked up to "home autmoation" systems that are susceptible? In that case, you deserve to be haxed 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted June 26, 2010 Haha, fear mongering. 9. The Human Body 10. Even the Human Brain Only if you're dumb enough to get fucking computer parts implanted into you. 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted June 26, 2010 Reminds me of a news story about electricity leakage that must have lost something when translated into layman's terms - some newspapers apparently stated that unused wall sockets should be switched off to minimise leakage. 0 Share this post Link to post

Aliotroph? Posted June 26, 2010 ROFL Tabloids are awesome. Dealing with the paranoid schizos who believe that crap isn't so awesome while it's happening, but it's good for a laugh. 0 Share this post Link to post

Apparently the fact that it was in metal shielding wasn't enough assurance. Sounds like something out of one of those stupid Final Destination movies. Dude gets hot, turns on fan. Freak set of coincidences results in him being found 3 days later all bloated with no face. 0 Share this post Link to post

Cutman Posted June 30, 2010 GhostlyDeath said:If you read the article, it's the new home automated blenders. But even then, is someone really going to hack a blender with Wifi outside your house, then attempt to climb into your upstairs window while you take a second to turn it off? 0 Share this post Link to post
Craigs Posted June 30, 2010 I remember they once did this article on this horrible group of terrorists known as anonymous who were known to be hackers on steroids, which was really scary because it showed them terrorizing people in various ways by replacing this one dude's myspace and replacing all his pictures with gay porn which made his girlfriend think he was gay, and they did it for no reason! Imagine all the horrible things these hackers on steroids could do if they hack in to my brain. They could turn ME into gay pornography! 0 Share this post Link to post

Ghostly I thought that even you would be able to laugh at the ridiculousness of this article and not rush and defend it because its published by Fox News. I honestly didn't think you were that much of a shill. Still, I'm impressed by your consistency, if not your intellectual honesty. 0 Share this post Link to post
Splatter Posted July 1, 2010 Laugh if you want, but the threat is real, and it can ruin lives. A friend of mine was victimized via blender (i.e. blendraped). One day not too long ago, he set his blender to purée, but those hacker bastards altered it to whip! Imagine his horror when the fruit he was blending ended up having a slightly different consistency. Since then, he's been unable to perform sexually and his marriage has fallen apart. 0 Share this post Link to post
