Hello everyone!
leafing through these pages a while I increased salivation.

but I'm really lags behind the rest of you;
I have a little slow to find things on the site using the translator,
copy and paste each piece of sentence,,

can you just tell me (or show me the thread that talks about it)
how can I start back to play with doom,
download and use the missions created by yours,
I was in when you used the MS DOS,
now in Windows XP do not know how to open the original doom
as they open file .wad
..

later I will ask the best programs of today to draw levels,
Because I want to get back to being an mad-architect
Once I was a magician with DOOMCAD and DOOMUT,,
but now I have to take one step at a time!

thanks!

The negative responses to Deepsea probably arise from the fact that one has to pay for the full version. Also, some people tried the shareware version and could not get used to using it, for some reason or another, and think, because of their misadventure, to have an informed opinion which allows them to badmouth Deepsea. Even so, all the lump editing functions offered in the shareware version may be used freely.

Personally, I like Deepsea. It offers me everything to construct maps:
map editor, lump editor, merge tool, palette editor, graphics editor, script editor, etc. etc.

However, I also use other programs:
the map editor Doombuilder 2, which is still under development, it needs to have some kinks ironed out but is quite usable,
the lump editor SLADE 3, also still under development but is quite usable, and
the lump editor XWE, which also has some mixed reviews because some people have trouble with it,
a graphics program Paint Shop Pro, and
a miscellany of other programs for graphics and sound editing.

thanks guys!
I took a look at the links you have passed,
I have to go with the translator, however, to understand.

I seemed to understand
to play that doom do not download anything?
is an online platform, maybe because it gives you the chance
to play multi-player;
then I saw that immediately, do not resist talking mainly about how to build maps :D
I am sure that in here, there are many people like me who loves to build more than playing.
it is strange that you have never done a ranking of the best programs to build maps.

I when I was in high school, I made an examination in architecture
with a level of doom ;-)

Maybe you'll get more help if you tell us what country you're from. There's a good chance someone speaks both your language and English.

To play doom you need the WAD file, which contains the game data, but you also need an ENGINE. Doom2.exe or doom.exe are the MS-DOS engines that you used before - now there are source ports which have better compatibility with windows.

I think that's what you were confused about - you'll probably need to either download one of the ports, or use DOSBOX to play with doom2.exe

Any Anglo-Italian Doomers care to help a compatriota?

eheh :DDDD
yours have already helped me a lot
the language is not a problem with a translator
is just a little bit slow;

The important thing is that if the matter is complex to explain in simple, I have yet to set in this new world!

Yup, hes a GPL violator. I'm a strong believer in copyleft/open source, so I refuse to use his programs.

As far as DeepSea being better than Doom Builder/Slade3 combo- I guess its a matter of preference. DeepSea is more stable maybe, but its outdated. Newer utilities are catching up fast, they have almost all of the useful features that DeepSea had.

So in other words, don't waster your time paying for some stolen source code, or an editor from the 90s when there's free ones available that can accomplish the same thing.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause any confusion (hopefully we can find an Italian speaker to clear things up). Here are the programs I was talking about :

For editing levels and resources:
http://www.doombuilder.com
http://slade.mancubus.net

The tutorials for these programs are mostly videos, and they are in English. You can try translating this document:
http://www.doombuilder.com/files/doombuilder1guide.pdf

You can not play Doom online for free. You must use one of these programs:
http://odamex.net/
http://www.skulltag.com/

You must have a copy of the original game to play these. You need the file DOOM.WAD, DOOMU.WAD, or DOOM2.WAD. Copy this file into your skulltag or odamex folder.

If you do not have the original game anymore, you can still buy it:
http://www.idsoftware.com/

Hope that this helps.
