Revenant Posted October 23, 2010 In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the Yeoman Engineers and Designers of Software. lupinx-Kassman Posted October 23, 2010 I love it when a plan comes together. 0 Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted October 23, 2010 I am shocked! Shocked and appalled at the recycling of this Shaikoten drawing! I'll still probably make a map though. 0 Share this post Link to post

Mechadon Posted October 24, 2010 I gotta knock out some school works, but I will be there :D. I may even show up on IRC, who knows. 0 Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted October 24, 2010 Revenant is sleeping, so he had me post the rules for him. They're in the OP, but I'll repost them here because I feel like it: 32in24 10 is now in session! Anyone can participate by making and submitting a map...or several maps! The rules are as follows: Boom Compatible map format. Gamemode: 4-8 Player free-for-all deathmatch (Include DM Starts, and Player 1 start). Items NOT flagged as Multiplayer Only. Put an exit in your map. No new textures: only use doom2.wad textures. New music OK. Give your map a name, so we don't have to. Maps that are deemed crappy will get cut if we go over the 32 map limit. Try to stick around 30 mins to 1 hour build time per map. Beauty is optional: fun is not. Post a download link to your finished map in this thread. If you don't have your own hosting, use http://files.drdteam.org/ instead of using Rapidshare or whatever, for the courtesy of the person who has to download all the maps and compile the resulting wad Okay apparently this doesn't work, just use Speedyshare or Dropbox or something Have fun! We still have an IRC channel at irc.oftc.net #32in24 so drop in and get PUMPED UP! 0 Share this post Link to post
Mechadon Posted October 24, 2010 *opens Doom Builder* *edit* Welp, I finished a layout and thing placements. Haven't playtested or detailed it yet. Not sure where it's going to take me. I hope everyone else is faring well. 0 Share this post Link to post
Xaser Posted October 24, 2010 O DAM SON Hmm, I might be able to whip up something quick tomorrowish. Prolly won't be a masterpiece, but I'll make it insane to compensate. 0 Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted October 24, 2010 Map done. I didn't bother detailing it particularly, nor did I..bother putting it on the grid particularly. I hope the item placement isn't too awful; I'm never sure about it. http://sl4.poned.com/wasd/essel-32in2410-1.wad Title: Lawn Wake IX Build Time: Three hours. I'm slow. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mechadon Posted October 24, 2010 Nice :). I think for my next map, if I have time, I'm going to rip off your concept and do a map that doesn't have any 45 or 90 degree angles :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Mechadon Posted October 24, 2010 http://mekworx.phenomer.net/mekastuff/wads/32in24/mek-32in2410-1.zip Title: Grayscale Build Time: 4 hours too long Music: None (I may pick a track later) Well as usual, I spent too much time on this with details and all that crap. I'll do another one tomorrow if I'm not feeling awful. I'm fighting a cold or something right now. *edit* Uhhhh....riiiight. I forgot to do the lighting. Oh well, it'll wait until tomorrow :P 0 Share this post Link to post
The Green Herring Posted October 24, 2010 Here's one. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6650582/32in24-10_TGH1.zip Title: Wood, Stone, and Steel Build Time: 4 hours and 48 minutes Music: Axle the Red's Stage Theme from Mega Man X5, converted to MIDI by King Meteor EDIT (1:10 PM PDT): Added layout preview since other people have been doing it. 0 Share this post Link to post

Title: The Fly Build Time: around 3 painful hours :-/ Music: MIDI rendition of U2's song 'The Fly'. I realise it is a bit cramped in several spaces, but I think it's a good close quarter map...I hope. :3 Just followed the concept of two different dimensions, hence the symmetry. Hardly detailed, but I think it looks cool anyway. Even the map kinda looks like a fly. :P Dl: EDIT: *link deleted* See my other post. 0 Share this post Link to post
Tib Posted October 24, 2010 DID IT... in an hour and a half or so Title: Techbase, Bloody Techbase Build time: roughly an hour and a half Music: a little something-something i cooked up link: http://www.speedyshare.com/files/24844366/32in24-10-tib.wad 0 Share this post Link to post

I like the layout but it is definitely pretty cramped (especially with all of the short narrow corridors.) 0 Share this post Link to post

Melon Posted October 24, 2010 This 24 hour mapping seems like the perfect opportunity for me to get off my ass and actually finish a map for once. I thought I'd play it safe and go for a (mostly) symmetrical and boring layout. The detail sucks, the architecture sucks, the gameplay probably sucks as well. In hindsight it might be too small for 8 players, live and learn. Title: Baseheads Build Time : Nearly 2 hours. http://www.kieranmillar.com/doom/32in24-10-melon.zip 0 Share this post Link to post
Icytux Posted October 24, 2010 Oh shit, forgot about this. Gonna start making one right away. 0 Share this post Link to post
40oz Posted October 24, 2010 Something. Gotta go to work now. Hopefully I can get the thing placement and all done tonight when I get back. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mechadon Posted October 24, 2010 Looks awesome 40oz! I'm feeling a little bit better today, so I'll try for one or two more maps. And I'll get my first submission all fixed up too. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mechadon Posted October 24, 2010 Finished another layout/thing placements: I was going to do a freehand style drawing, but I guess I just wasn't in the mood today. I might try it if I have the steam to do a third map. 0 Share this post Link to post
Solarn Posted October 24, 2010 Here's my try at a map. Name: Boxed in. Build Time: Two hours, three and a half if you count the numerous failed attempts. Download: http://www.sendspace.com/file/jpb2r1 0 Share this post Link to post
Bucket Posted October 24, 2010 SON OF A CRAP And I was sitting around all day, too. Now I have to clean the apartment, stop by the office and take the woman out for dinner and a movie. You bastards need to do better than 1 day's notice. 0 Share this post Link to post
Craigs Posted October 24, 2010 Done! http://www.speedyshare.com/files/24857695/32in2410craigs.wad map name: Lord Assburger's Manor edit: Oh and build time: roughly 3 hours 0 Share this post Link to post
Walter confetti Posted October 24, 2010 (if my computer doesn't try anyomre to crash...) Here's my map, theme is sort of episode 2 techbase, i hope you enjoy it (sorry, no map layout but a shot from map itself) http://www.mediafire.com/?f8zn352zj5rkfa2 Title: Perfect Blue (yes, like the anime movie from R.I.P. satoshi kon) Time: 5 hours + pauses for eating and other things... Music: midi rendition from another anime, "Don't say LAZY!" (K-on ending theme), it fits good with map IMO. I know some item placement aren't the best ever did, but here's the work. See to fix them in further. 0 Share this post Link to post
Icytux Posted October 24, 2010 Name: High Roller Buildtime: A little bit over 3 hours. http://www.speedyshare.com/files/24857832/Icy32in2410-10.zip This is my try. I think the "detailing" might have been a little bit overkill but, whatever. Thats a 512x512 grid... 0 Share this post Link to post
Death Egg Posted October 25, 2010 Terror Towers: Download (SendSpace, couldn't upload to the link provided by esselfortium for some reason) The MIDI is from the game Thunder Force IV, and was taken from this website. I don't know the policy surrounding borrowed MIDIs, or songs from other games, so it can be removed if necessary. 0 Share this post Link to post
