keithktam Posted October 30, 2010 Hi, i am trying to find the decorate in the doom.wad on my computer with slade3, the wad suppose to have no major mod in it. and there was no decorate in it what so ever, so how can i locate any other class and actor?? tried the zdoom.pk3 file, found decorate, but all it had there was lot of line using include. I am new to wad modding, actually the reason for me to mod is to add many weapons to have fun, so sorry for this Knob problem..... thank you in advance. 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted October 30, 2010 You won't find a DECORATE lump in any of the Doom IWADs, that's something you'll have to create in your map/resource wad once you've decided what custom actors it'll be using. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted October 30, 2010 The actors were hardcoded in the engine in the original game. So they are not defined in the IWAD. ZDoom is one of many ports which have externalized actor definition as text. The code is therefore, as you rightly guessed, in zdoom.pk3. You only saw #include lines, yeah. I actually gave it a few more try yesterday night. rewarded with some progress! able to look at the pk3 file again, and clicked on all those folders, reviewing doomplayer and doomweapon, oh, really help me to see how to structure the script on my own wad, and by reviewing the zdoom wiki, i managed to create a class with my name on the class and be chosen from a menu, increased startup health, and most original doom weapons, except the rocket launcher.....damn!! anyway, super thanks for all you kind people, helping me out. oh, just have one more question, i saw the decorate files with includes: like the decorate i mentioned before, how do you call those lump in the actors files?? they are structured like decorate, defining more actors in them, like the doomplayer and doomweapons, but what do they called?? can't find the playerpawn though... anyway, thanks again. 0 Share this post Link to post
