Recommended Posts

hi, do prboom support 4 players in coop mode?
When I run prboom-game-server it says ..waiting for 2 players.
If not what port support more than 2 players in coop?

Prboom should support 4 players (at the most, idk)
Zdoom supports 8 players
Skulltag supports a massive 32 players

You need to say you want four players with "-N 4".

$ prboom-game-server -N 4
Listening on port 5030, waiting for 4 players

I'd suggest Odamex which is a multiplayer oriented source port and does not deviate too far from what prBoom does, unlike ZDaemon and Skulltag which are ZDoom derivatives.

Yeah, both ZDaemon and Odamex are based on csDoom, which is based on ZDoom 1.22.

For private games with locals, C/S-specific engines aren't necessary nor too convenient. They make more sense when more people are involved, when wanting to make the game public, or if the players are not close to each other geographically.

By the way, blob84, if you're interested in using compatibility settings with PrBoom online, you need to use the -c parameter on the server and point to a PrBoom CFG that defines the compatibility under default_compatibility_level.
