Trivia: Doom2 on idgames

Just downloaded all single player levels from the mirror Berlin ftp.
There is at least one* level missing from the mirror archives.

(Everything in /pc/games/idgames/levels/doom2 except for /doom2/deatmatch directory)

That's a 4 gig download containing 4674 wads as of 20/11/2010.

5 of them are doubles:
cybersky, embrace, bighouse/mansion1,beyond/beyond2 and bih*/bnhell (burn in hell).


So there are 4669 doom2 levels available today on the Berlin mirror.
Quiet low isn't it?

1 level is in rar format, 2 used arj and one lzh, all the rest is in zip format.

That's doom files, remember a lot of those are episodes, and about 50 of them are full megawads. btw, could you post a zip of that? It appears that my archive is incomplete. If you go through and actually count the number of maps it's probably around 7,000 - 8,000 by now.

I have only downloaded doom2 single player levels.
I'm downloading the deathmatch dir in the doom2 directory now, it looks like it will be around 3400 wads. So that will match your 8000 number.

(there're several deathmatch directories in different branches then doom2 offering doom2 deathmatches, btw).

I only meant I downloaded the doom 2 single player levels. My archive is like 4400 files or something, missing a few, but I only skipped ones that seemed trivial to me. I'm working on downloading the doom 1 single player maps right now.

The file you linked above was renamed or reuploaded as hellcave.[txt|zip]; this is how it exists on the mirrors currently.

The current Doomworld link to hellcave is http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=9178. The upload date is about one year later than your original link.

Edit: /me has a copy of both idgames and idgames2 mirrors.
