Hardware for sale, if anyone cares. Expensive!

Recommended Posts

Tyan Thunder K7, complete board (S2462NG, without SCSI or SMBus) with power supply and 1GB registered DDR SDRAM. $400 or willing to trade for nForce with two 512MB PC2400 CL2 DIMMs. This is way over $750 worth of hardware. E-mail me @ kyutika@datarecall.net if you're interested.

Don't ask. I already asked him why he didn't wait until "Doom 3" before upgrading, but he just said that he couldn't wait.
Why he picked GeForce IV is a different question, which I forgot to ask him.

Well. The Geforce IV is, atm, the best available gfx card.

Well, John Carmack stated that the card didn't deserve to be called "GeForce IV" and further made it clear that GeForce III would run "Doom 3" better.

Just curious: How do your games (and programs in general) run with your new vid card Maonth?

#1. He stated that the Geforce IV MX would run worse than Geforce
III.

#2. I haven't got it yet.

All I have is crappy Direct3D...and my friend is getting a GF2 MX soon, which is still better than my gfx capabilities.

I can't beleive this...he said don't buy a budget geforce 4, the GF4mx, because all it is is an accelerated GF3, He did NOT say avoid the gf4 all together...I'm amazed and how many people are boycotting the card due to that statement...ah well

Even slower? No man, that would be just too obscene.

According to some tests I've seen, a GF4 MX is slower than a GF3 Ti500.

yes, I believe tarin may be right.. but that's why its budget, although, for a budget card, it's still pretty good, just not for Doom 3.

Of course it is. It's the mainstream version, not the HighEnd one.

And Maonth's got the HighEnd one, of course, because he's a rich professional game developer (praise him)! :D
