Dumb question

Heres a dumb question for ya,

I've noticed in my time here that many peoples avatars is some variation of a fish, does this have a specific meaning, or is it just an unusual doomworld fad?

My apologies for the dumb question, but it has been scratching at my brain for a while.

Actually, no, I honestly thought that it was some derivative of the dopefish thing.

It seems like every couple months there's a big fish renaissance and you see absolutely everyone with one.
