Crendowing Posted March 16, 2002 freewebz.com You get 40 megs to start, then if you put the tracking code in at least one of your pages, you can ask for 100 megs. This is where my DOOM Station is at (click the "www" button at the bottom of my post). 0 Share this post Link to post
Liam Posted March 16, 2002 SpaceTowns FreeWebz SSIhost I choose SpaceTowns out of those three because the FreeWebz terms of service are ridiculous (and because 'freewebz' just sounds totally gay') 0 Share this post Link to post

Kid Airbag Posted March 16, 2002 I like Tripod. Even though its service is shitty, it's easy to make and not time-consuming. 0 Share this post Link to post

Heh, well sure you can use inspan for file hosting, but that's not provided by dw and doesn't change the fact that the dw file hosting is done by the imo rather poor 3ddownloads service. 0 Share this post Link to post

Bloodshedder Posted March 17, 2002 crosswinds.net No actual banners on your page but quite a few popups, unlimited space, and free web e-mail. 0 Share this post Link to post
myrworld Posted March 17, 2002 Hey'a, As a webmaster and an individual who has been involved in running free web hosts in the past, I'm sad to say that their era is pretty much a dead one. There are still some good ones out there, but they rarely can stay in business very long unless they simply pack you down with ads and popups. I no longer trust my site to a free server, but if you're willing to, here's some good bets: http://www.digital-host.net --I helped run it for a while, but they're currently in the straights for funding and aren't online in any real sense. http://www.dk3.net or http://www.dk3.com (I'm not sure which) --They're a decent free host, but my friends have told me and I have seen that they put a rather large, Geocities-esque ad that can interfere with JavaScripts and Layers. http://www.spaceports.com (or .net) --Don't know too much about, seem decent. To increase the odds in your hunting, go to http://www.freewebspace.com (or, once again, .net). The people there are bastards, but because of this, they've narrowed down the list to some decent hosts. Read around in their forums for more info. I honestly think that if you want to get your site up to snuff, it's becoming more and more likely that paid hosting is the way to go. I pay $7.99 a month to http://www.imagelinkusa.com for 100MB of space, 10GB of bandwidth, and a ton of features. The tech support is mediocre, but that's the least of my worries. Check out http://www.tophosts.com for more info on paid hosting. Hope this helps, RCM 0 Share this post Link to post

sirjuddington Posted March 17, 2002 As long as you DON'T sign up with Geocities, any other hosting service should do. ]Spaceports is ok, but theres a banner at the bottom. (Unlimited space, though...) 0 Share this post Link to post

pritch Posted March 17, 2002 I always say if you're really serious pay the small fee most ask for taking away limitations, it's probably worth it in the long run. 0 Share this post Link to post
