What kind of news are you after? News on games and internet stuff in general. Like Kotaku or maybe the Escapist. Or information on new and upcoming games like shacknews or Gametrailers or e-sports like ESReality and ESFIWorld?

Shacknews seems to be what I wanted...

I suggest youtube and G4tv.com. Gameplay videos, and news.

Gameinformer.com as well. But who wants news on todays games?

I would say atomic gamer, but they have ruined so many download links for me that they are now dead to me.

Joystiq is pretty good if you don't need in-depth stuff. Of course, they have a bunch of sister blog sites like Big Download and Engadget.

That may be true, but /v/ doesn't have praise-happy advertisers. It really is the only place that you can get your info untainted by videogaming "journalism". Even if it comes with elitism.

Think about it this way: at least it isnt RPGcodex.

You've never seen the 250+ post Oblivion threads lately (that consist mostly of obscure Korean porn mods)? Take what you see and hear there with a grain of salt, there's just so many types of people in there. Cool people, true trolls, playful trolls, true retards. The community isn't one homogeneous entity. Depending on how the stars align, a thread might sink into page 15 in a matter of minutes or blossom into an enthusiastic discussion.

..but anyway, I don't really follow any general game news sites, barring slashdot. If the item is important, there's bound to be a few threads of it on /v/.
