ArmouredBlood Posted March 21, 2011 Insanely cool. Such an awesome concept that I'd love to try to make in doom ... but would take so long to get right. Color theme would have to change though - doom is definitely not modern art with it's use of white emphasizing vibrant colors, heheh. 0 Share this post Link to post
Craigs Posted March 21, 2011 At first I thought it was awesome because I thought it was a map a shitload of people had made in a server. But then I looked in the description and found out it was done by one person. Now it seems really creepy but still kinda cool. 0 Share this post Link to post
AkiraZXE Posted March 21, 2011 This goes on the "holy fuck" list, right next to the Enterprise-D just due to it's scale. I'm speechless, really. 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted March 21, 2011 How did he find enough time to do this? Minecraft hasn't been out this long. Maybe he's an architect. EDIT: It took him 3 weeks?! *head explodes* 0 Share this post Link to post
Mithran Denizen Posted March 21, 2011 Impressive. Seeing this, I'm reminded why I need to continue to resist the time-vampire that is Minecraft. ;P I've incidentally been working on-and-off on a similar underwater city in Doom for a long time now (which I started when Boom came out with translucent lines, heh). It's not quite as extensive as this, but when Bioshock was released, I decided to pick it up again, so it should hopefully see the light of day within the next few years. 0 Share this post Link to post
DuckReconMajor Posted March 21, 2011 @iexusuxei Misa's HD TP. What means cheat? I don't "play" in my creations, I just have fun making and charing them. Mobs have no use to me. If I wouldn't use mcedit/invedit I wouldn't even try to create such things and you couldn't have fun exploring em (as long as you do have fun doing that of course, I can imagine alot of people don't like it actually and I respect this). Without floating around I couldn't show you the scenes like I do. TrynePlague 1 day ago 3 He used mods and editors to make this. This makes it no less impressive in my eyes, but it does make it possible. Honestly, in today's Minecraft, trying to create massive structures while battling creepers and not using any sort of mod is just stupid. 0 Share this post Link to post
Craigs Posted March 21, 2011 Heh, I'll probably download the map save a bit later, then just for shits and giggles put a few monster spawners around the city, just to see what fighting a shit load of monsters in it is like. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted March 21, 2011 That really does have one hell of a scale. And I thought that the map my friends and I made with multiple interconnected keeps was big. 0 Share this post Link to post
Quast Posted March 21, 2011 Where the hell did he find a body of water deep enough for that? I don't think i've ever seen a natural body of water more than 20-25 blocks deep. Regardless, this looks cool as hell. 0 Share this post Link to post

Regardless, this looks cool as hell. Pretty sure he used MC edit to make it deeper. Also I gave this a run on normal. Turns out you don't even need to make any changes since monsters spawn naturally due to the low light levels and depth. It's like a more destructable and blocky version of bioshock. Also I'd like to note that creepers make this place leak like a mother fucker. 0 Share this post Link to post
Scripten Posted March 22, 2011 Hell, just play on peaceful and try to clear all the slimes out. Damn things... 0 Share this post Link to post

At least in multiplayer that's the only thing that keeps the game fun, without adversity minecraft is nothing. 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted March 22, 2011 Has a community of people ever try and make a Doom map as legendary is scale as this? I don't know the limitations. A map the size of a casino would be fucking killer. 0 Share this post Link to post

I've come to the same conclusion (without ever actually playing the game). The constant fight to keep one's creations from being destroyed is somehow exactly what's needed to motivate us to keep trying to build them. 0 Share this post Link to post

Last night my friend and I built a highway between our castles, and there was only one creeper death, and minimal damage done by them (I think floor tiles absorb explosive damage for some reason). 0 Share this post Link to post
Xeros612 Posted March 22, 2011 Different blocks have different resistances to TNT and Creeper blasts. 0 Share this post Link to post
