Recommended Posts

What is the best thing you have experienced outside the gaming world (if you HAVE had any 'best' experience outside gaming)?

Hehhehehehheh

I bet I know what half of the answers are already :P

It's probably my answer too...although, I'm trying to think of something else...but I can't, really. Maybe all of eighth grade.

It hasn't happened to me yet....although there are times I miss when I was still in Scouts. Ah, the memories of camping trips....

However, I will tell you about my WORST real-life experience. One time I met this girl in an AOL chat room (shoot me). It was a local chat, so we called each other up one time. Let it be known that I haven't met this girl in real life. All she did was send me her picture. The first one was fake (off of some porn site, as I later found out). Now I know what she really looks like. Though I drool at the sight, the voice in my head tells me to snap out of it.

Oh, sorry, onto what went on. Well, as I said, we chatted on the phone. She had "fallen" for me *cough* bullshit *cough*. Yeah, basically the whole virtual girlfriend story. I made the mistake of giving her my friends phone number (the names have been changed to protect the not-so-innocent ;/ <---supposed to be an angry/annoyed face

Hot damn, boy did I get had! Next thing you know, she has some secret 3-way convos when that same friend calls me. To this day I still question his integrity. Bad went to worse, people all over the internet and even my fucking school start making fun of me for the "secrets" that I spilled to my friend, whom I of course had no problem telling to since he already knew. Boy was I pissed!

Anyway, it's been over a year now and things have remained silent. This is the whole reason I put an IM blocker and only let those I WANT to IM me do so. I can't believe that same friend who betrayed me is still on there. But what can I do? I've known him for almost 7 years. Can't just shrug him off like that. Then again, he IS growing more retarded by the day. I tell him, "You see what you get for smoking all that pot?" Even at this very moment I'm thinking about forgetting his ass when I go off to college in about a year. He wouldn't last 5 miutes out in the real world, I'm telling you.Well, if he sees this post, then I guess I'm fucked in a way.

I'm going off on rant now. I'll shut up

Well, I've lived in Texas my whole life. Getting out of San Antonio will be enough for me :)

I've reached *GASP!*....another double!

Sounds like that really sucks, Cren, but don't you think you're being kind of paranoid that someone you know might find out that you're typing this?

Yes.

I made the mistake of putting the URL to the fourums in my AOL profile, and I think that girl I mentioned is on it as well. If she acesses the site, she might have seen that post, slapped my face on Monday, and I'd be the laughing stock of the school.

Sorry to sound like a teenager in love at this point :)

It's easy to answer this thread with a plethora of physical experiences, but I'll say that feeling you get everytime you do something right or the joy you feel while being with your best friends surpasses all that stuff.

I'd say you hit the nail dead on, Zaldron. Physical experiences, as you put it, always lack something for me, like fulfillment. Whereas, spending a day off with a bunch of friends is always fulfilling.

Persoanly, my favorite thing to do is playing D&D. I look forward to Wednesday nights and get pissed when my DM cancells the game (which he's threatening to do this week, the bastard). It's a night full of inside jokes, pizza eating, half-mad banter, and hanging out with older people. Yay!

Another thing I enjoy is hugging girls. They're so soft and warm, and that smell of makup and such, though unpleasant alone, is extremely comforting and fitting in such a situation. But the best thing about it is how it makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. Very comforting.

Possibly the single coolest thing that has happened to me was when my friend told me the music I made on Fruity Loops kicked ass. I've never done anything right in my life, and all of the sudden I do something that kicks ass without even trying. Wow...

I think my best R/L experience was saving my son's life when he was 5 years old, he still remembers it and mentions it sometimes:

One day, out with his cousins he was allowed to buy a "pea-shooter", and following their instructions went to blow it, but, having the pea in his mouth he inhaled, ready to blow, but the pea shot into his throat, and he choked, but recovered. When he returned home and told me, I of course took the pea shooter off him, and next day he told his mom the pea had come out in the toilet, that was the last of it, we thought... 2weeks later he had become slightly ill, out of breath easily, lethargic, wife took him to the docs when she found she was having to carry him on her back to school, but doc said it was just him "not wanting to go to school"
One night at tea time he gave a cough, then started choking, and I mean choking, he turned blue, I was trying to do the heimlick on him but it wouldn't work, he was scary to see , he passed out, but in a minute was ok again, but when he took a deep breath off he went again, choking turning blue, I managed to get through to him to take tiny breaths and he was ok, the ambulance arrived as he coughed again and again was choking to death, the crew couldnt do anything but he listend to my instructions and took tiny breaths and remained conscious, they told me to hold him in the ambulance with oxygen near his face "just in case it worked" , at hospital doc examined him but said he was ok and was letting him go home as he suspected it was just a lung spasm, I remembered the "pea incident" and mentioned it to him but he thought it was "nothing to worry about" I insisted and he sent him for an x ray, during x ray he choked again and I can still remember the porter running like fuck pushing him on a trolley back to where the doctor was stationed, the x ray showed 1 of his lungs had collapsed, the pea had been stuck in his lung causing the lining of his lung to become infected, at tea time his "1st cough was his lung collapsing, expelling the pea, but of course a dried pea, now moistened after 2 weeks in his lung, was twice the size it was when it went in and was too big to go up his bronchial tube, every time he coughed it was like one of the snorkel tubes with the ping pong in it, it blocked the tube until he lost conciousness, then when he did, muscles relaxed letting it drop back into his lung, and as long as he breathed shallow, it was ok, but a big breath or a cough set it all into motion again, a paediatrician was sent for to use a gastroscope to operate and remove, the scariest part was him taking me to one side and telling me he "didnt feel confident doing it, and would rather not, thank you", at this point (2am) they had brought a priest to him to have him christened in case...
They decided there was a doctor at a hospital 40 miles away who was the best in his field and what they were to do was police escort son in ambulance with an anaesthetist and nurse for emergency, to a hospital mid way to him, while he was being taken in police car to that hospital to save time, that ride was scary, myself and the mrs were in the priest's car as ambulance was full with the staff they felt they needed, it's a scare going through red lights in a car driven by a priest I can tell you! :)
At the new hospital everyone rushed to get him on a trolley, the anaesthetist said he didn't think my son could make it through another choking session all the veins in his face were bursting, and he had "honestly only ever seen that in a post mortum where victim had suffocated ", that wasn't good news!
To cut a long story less long :) 2 mins later he was on a trolley, with us running to theatre, bursting doors open, nurse shouting out his weight to aneasthetist, him injecting son, and watching him disappear into the theatre, 20 mins later, doc had gone into his lung, cut pea in half, drawn out both halves, and hey presto! son was ok :) Was almost a miracle next day watching him sitting up in bed, I can still see the burst vessels in his face tho :(
Bless him

I have noticed that now pea shooters have some sort of guard on the part you blow through preventing this happening now, I wonder if it's coz of this?

The worst bit was next day, he was allowed out of bed, he was running around , typical 5 year old, and me and his mom were still at the "oh my God we could lose him" stage, I remember the night before, one nurse gave me a drink of brandy, now they don't do that often I am sure, so we were in trauma and it was like there was no reason for it, but we still felt that way, still do sometimes
