Den_Zurin Posted April 25, 2011 Doom Wars is new open source RTS in Doom universe. It's classic RTS (Warcraft II like), where you must collect resources, build and protect bases and attack enemy. There's two factions: UAC (humans) and Hell (demons). Game has only skirmish mode, also planned campaigns. Game uses Stratagus engine. General Rainbow Bacon Posted April 25, 2011 It sounds really cool, but the download link is taking forever. Could you upload it to mediafire or something? 0 Share this post Link to post
PRIMEVAL Posted April 25, 2011 Looks like DOOM RTS: Battle for Mars. No longer in production, though, but the source code and/or resources are available. 0 Share this post Link to post

hex11 Posted April 25, 2011 Doom: Tower Defense sounds like something that might work also... But I wonder if anyone has tried to make a turn-based strategy style game like Warlords, Nectaris (aka Battle Isle), etc. 0 Share this post Link to post
neubejiita Posted April 27, 2011 http://www.bejiitaswrath.com/files/DoomWars.7z I have uploaded it to my webspace if it helps, this is a very good game. 0 Share this post Link to post

Clonehunter Posted April 28, 2011 This looks pretty cool. I'll DL whats available. EDIT: Eh, it crashes... er... Stops working after I hit 'Start Game' after going through game options. You said Skirmish mode is all that is available, but, what exactly is that? I'm running on Vista, and I'm not sure what you mean by Windows 98 compatibility mode. 0 Share this post Link to post
cybermind Posted April 28, 2011 Clonehunter, right-click the game icon and click Properties. Then click the Compatibility tab and select the Run this program in compatibility mode check box. Then select Windows 98 in drop down menu. And did you set the bigger screen resolution in game than 800x600? If you did, you should reinstall the game, because of current version doesn't support resolutions bigger than 800x600 0 Share this post Link to post
Clonehunter Posted April 28, 2011 I googled it already but thanks anyways, it works now. oh, and could you upload the editor elsewhere too please? 0 Share this post Link to post
deathbringer Posted April 28, 2011 When you get around to making the actual graphics you could maybe use the various MD2's, and take screenshots of them at an RTS'ey angle then "trace" them to get sprites. Also some of the structures could be derived from the buildings in the episode ending maps from Doom. 0 Share this post Link to post
Clonehunter Posted April 29, 2011 Why use MD2's rather than actual sprites from the game? 0 Share this post Link to post
Katamori Posted May 3, 2011 Okay, I played about 45 minutes and I have to say: it's very addictive! Definitely interesting and although you have to fix some things, it's a great game! 0 Share this post Link to post
Clonehunter Posted May 3, 2011 Hey, you know what would be cool? Factions for Serpent Riders and The Order! Be a bit more complete I would think. ALso, better in free for alls so you have more diverse things to shoot at. Its impossible to tell Blue Imp Pack from Red Imp Pack, ecept for the map, which still makes it difficult, because when you see a pack f Imps, are the Imp allies or not? You'd be wasting time trying to kill them. Plus those beforementioned faction would just be cool. 0 Share this post Link to post
