Anyone Annoyed That...

Recommended Posts

The Cyberdemon's rocket launcher is on his right hand? The original creature from Doom 1, 2, and 64 had the weapon on his left hand. id Software and every other developer out there, please understand that the whole world is not all right-handed. The Doom Marine in the original games was left-handed with the pistol, but not every other gun for some reason. I'm left-handed, and so are a few others on Doomworld. The creator of Counter-Strike's left-handed, so he put all the weapons on the left sife. Sadly that's changed to right by default because of the fans. Please add a left-handed weapon view option in your games next time.

You're upset over an enemy having its weapon on its right hand instead of the left?

Talk about nitpicking.

No i'm disappointed that every fps game in this day and age has to have the protagonist be right handed.

Well, most people on earth are right-handed, I guess developers would first attend petitions concerning ethnicity or even gender in protagonist rather than left-handedness.

That being said, probably games could have a mirror hud option for those who want to play as left-handed. I don't think is that hard to implement.

In old quake 2 and unreal was handedness.

Oh btw. in D3 there is a command x, y, z position. It can't swap the gun properly for left hand but could move it around the screen.

Huh, so that's why bullet casings fly over to the wrong side! The models are mirrored!

Yeah. They were designed for a left-handed view.

I'm left handed, but would probably still fire a gun in my right hand. I think anyway, don't get to fire guns.

It's probably so he can still use his dominant hand to pick shit up and stuff. So like he can still be one of them unnatural lefties if it really bothers you that much.

Doesn't bother me that they used his right hand for the weapon.

That's been done by someone using the original Cyberdemon.

For sure! But I’m asking you if the Doom 3 Cyberdemon having two cybernetic legs annoys you? Seeing as they were bold enough to make the demon a right hander.

No it wouldn't annoy me. I just said that it doesn't bother me that they made him right handed in Doom 3. What bothered me was shooters having characters be right handed all the time.

This is a stellar idea. I think you should lead by example and start by flipping all the frames of the .gif in your avatar, as it clearly features a right-handed space marine. The game industry needs to know that not every marine blasts demons and browses porn with their right hand, and where better to start shaking things up than with our avies? They won't know what to think when they see those lefty firing motions.
