I really hope that the upcoming movie has a female lead because it's shot from the first person perspective and as a protagonist you never see yourself (Hardcore Henry as a cinematography experiment turned out well after all). To be honest, at this point it would be very difficult to put a face on the Doomguy. Bethesda barely dared to do it themselves

my cousin John Romero just sent me an early cut of this movie and man, it is just crawling with sjw propaganda. the very first line in the film is "let the white genocide commence", which is what the icon of sin tells DOOMGUY, who is being possessed by the IoS, which means doomguy is the bad guy! so let me get this straight, doomguy, a straight white cishet male is the antagonist, while our hero is some kind of fucking GIRL? WTF? i dont know about you guys but i have never ever seen a girl in real life, so right off the bat this movie is stupidly unrealistic. and then at one point in the movie, doomGIRL (more like doomfeminazi heh) saw 2 female archviles making out (kinda hot i gotta admit) and said "heh, good thing they arent straight, or i would kill them, because i hate straight people". wow, folks. wow. heterophobia at its finest. to top it all off, there was some fucking trigger warning at the beginning of the movie warning the audience about crass language, violent scenes, and so forth, along with some made-up bullshit rating. i think it was R, which knowing sjws probably means "Really pussified". tl;dr, DONT SEE THIS FUCKING SJW MOVIE.

Would it really be so bad to get a movie based on the events of the latest Doom game, which did in fact have a female lead (an antagonist, but still)? Honestly, I hate gratuitous token characters and virtue signaling as much as the next person, but it doesn't mean every movie that has a female lead is off the bat going to suck or be full of feminazi or otherwise SJW propaganda. Now, if it's written poorly and directly poorly, than by all means criticize it. Otherwise...

Haven't bothered to actually read through the thread, but I'm picturing the protagonist being Olivia Pierce in a sort of an "evil Llewellyn Moss" type role as she desperately tries to escape the wrath of the Doomslayer.

Last time I checked, the main character of Doom doesn't kill demons with their genitals.  I mean, that would be hilarious... but that doesn't happen in Doom.  So I'm not sure why it would matter what gender they are.

 

Plus "lead" doesn't necessarily mean the main character.  Just one of the lead ones.

There's no reason to make a fuss, it doesnt matter what the MC is if they make a good movie. I'm just hoping to get a cool character like Ripley. Also, doomguy's sexuality in the original games is completely unknown, and it is not relevant at all so there's no need to even bother with that.

 

But i agree that it would suck if the movie took equal rights and etc as a main thing. The movie should be about killing demons, and maybe about how much it sucks to have all the people you knew dead, but i dont care at all about what the cast is sexually or etnically speaking.
