DynamiteKaitorn Posted May 10, 2018 (edited) Okay guys. I want to restrict myself to utilising a limited amount of colours. The below colour palettes are ones I have come across on my journey so far. if there are other ones then feel free to post them below. :) 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 Share this post Link to post

Grain of Salt Posted May 11, 2018 I guess you're disabling the colormap? 0 Share this post Link to post
Jerry.C Posted May 11, 2018 What source port are you going to target? Because for software rendering all of them will suck big time because they do not have any gradients. 1 Share this post Link to post
kb1 Posted May 11, 2018 (edited) 1 and 5 are the largest, so by default, they win. 3 and 4 are almost identical. 6 is devoid of most skin tones 1 and 6 have the most red, for blood and gore As Jerry.C says, they all suck for light diminishing, but if you assume that the palettes are only showing the brightest colors, and that you're going to fill out the rest with darker versions, then 1 is probably the most versatile. But comparison is never going to be sensible unless you make each palette the same size, and same # of colors, and maybe display them here as animated GIFs, with each frame showing standard light diminishing effects. ETTiNGRiNDER Posted May 11, 2018 Isn't 6 the NES palette? Anyway I voted 5. 1 Share this post Link to post
The Nate Posted May 12, 2018 I will vote once I see what they look like in-game. 0 Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted May 12, 2018 I use 6 all the time, and yes, it is the NES palette. I even use it with vector art, it just works really nicely overall. 0 Share this post Link to post

Not really sure how I'd do that but I was going to simply just use them for texturing in DooM. 14 hours ago, Jerry.C said: What source port are you going to target? And 2 is a bunch of Super Game Boy palettes! 0 Share this post Link to post
