dybbuk81 Posted May 22, 2018 (edited) Are there any youtube tutorials or otherwise split-up-in-lessons tutorials for beginning doom modding that are modern? I Have all the old sams publishing books but they're highly outdated. The reason I ask, is because with a couple exceptions I have made mostly bad mods to where I never release any anymore and feel I've lost my touch with modern ones and am stuck far in the 90s. I did get some cameras to work, slopes, moving water, etc. I just wondered if there was a super universal how-to that was highly used that definitely serves all of it's purpose. EDIT: If not, what are some resources to place with other resources in an attempt to create a website for this purpose, and then use it? 1 Share this post Link to post

Dragonfly Posted May 22, 2018 (edited) I know you asked for basics so this isn't the best place, but my own site has a selection of tutorials and I add more semi-regularly. The next 'tutorial' type post I'll be making will be covering hotkeys and 'ways to work quicker' etc in GZDB, which a few people have asked me for. https://www.dfdoom.com/tutorials/ If there's any tutorials you want specifically, please visit the above page and fill out the little form in the sidebar - it sends me an email and reminds me that there's demand for certain types of tutorial. :) ----- Vertex Slopes: https://www.dfdoom.com/tutorial-introduction-udmf-vertex-slopes/ Climbable Ladder:https://www.dfdoom.com/create-a-climbable-ladder-in-doom/ Sloped Archways:https://www.dfdoom.com/tutorial-easy-way-make-sloped-archways/ Sloped 3D Floors:https://www.dfdoom.com/tutorial-sloped-3d-floors/ Lines & Sector Based Portals: https://www.dfdoom.com/gzdoom-portal-tutorial/ 7 Share this post Link to post
dybbuk81 Posted May 23, 2018 I didn't understand how to convert the sloped archway on the grid to the real thing though, so I improvised. 0 Share this post Link to post

I didn't understand portals until now, so thanks for that. 1 Share this post Link to post
Dragonfly Posted May 23, 2018 You're most welcome @R4L! @dybbuk - did your improvisation work out okay? If you can think of a way it could be explained even clearer, please let me know. 0 Share this post Link to post
dybbuk81 Posted May 23, 2018 When it was laid out on the X and Y axis, linking it to Z I didn't understand, so I just made the ceiling heights different in Z 0 Share this post Link to post
