What are some good free iwads out there? that can run on doom engine or source ports of doom engine like gzdoom/zdoom. Free full iwads, no sharewares. Officially free, no pirates please.

Actually, it depends on what do you exactly trying to find. If just new maps so... look under Doom General subforum.

Why not just get the official IWADs on Steam or GoG for $5 each?

Freedoom is an obvious choice. There's also Blasphemer(free Heretic) and Zauberer(free Hexen), both of which are still in development.

You might also want to check out Chex Quest 3 and Harmony.

Shadow & Rise of the Wool Ball, The Adventures of Square, and Daytime Drama.

 

Note that all of these (not including The Adventures of Square) can be detected by SanyaWaffles' WIGZDoom engine, and this engine is based off of the GZDoom.

 

And Rise of the Wool Ball and The Adventures of Square can be detected by GZDoom.

Uh, it's fine. This is how Freedoom is developed. There are new releases fairly regularly.
