Hammer Editor Randomness.

Very nice! I loved Worldcraft back in the day (my first 3D editor) but when I tried to use Hammer for TF2 and CSGO it just drove me mad and I never finished anything. All the Source features just feel tacked onto an editor that was only ever meant for making boxy Quake/HL1 maps.

Creating outdoor environments is surprisingly easy Thanks to the Clipping tool, you just insert a basic brush, make a few cuts and move the verteces around in 2D views and there you go :) in Source games I think they use something called Displacement and then Paint Materials similar to UE4's landscape tools.
