[BOOM for Doom II] TwoShot X

The TwoShot Corporation is glad to announce the opening, in association with the Union Aerospace Corporation, of a new training facility designed specially for low- to medium-level marines: TwoShot X!

  • Support for duel/deathmatch cooperative training via "killing" each other with fake weapons!
  • Doom II IWAD Nanosoft's new Simple Hall Interposition Technology, producing beautiful halls and sudden undesirable updates that kill your computer with a blue red screen of death! (Not sponsored by Halls. I swear.)
  • Mostly compatible with Boom and derived source ports (unknown complevel) explosive perspectives, so that you can, in 99% of the reasons, be assured that the rocket launcher randomly laid around will NOT kill an agoraphobic marine standing next to a wall!
  • Fun and gimmicky, for your everyday marine's entertainment!
  • Eye candy obstacles to make your marine's life harder! This is important because it teaches the marine how to react to modern arenas' lack of movement, solely due to props like lamps. Because, you know, EVERY good marine MUST go AVGN at modernly decorated maps!

 

And lastly, yet most importantly,

 

  • No chance for actual demon invasions to kill every newbie and unskilled cadet on sight!

 

(Ignore the fact the days since last accident LED is showing a fat zero. That was a small accident that involved a malfunction of the gauntlet construction, resulting in the death of two TwoShot workers due to two shots.)

Oh, yeah, thanks. Forgot the screenshots.

 

The getting stuck part is intentional. It initially wasn't, but I don't know if there is a better ward to penalize the player for trying to grab that thing. Maybe I should activate a crusher...

Hey, just gave your map a try! and I have a few things to note. First of all, the map was very interesting from a design perspective. I played in Boom, on Ultra Violence, and I used saves (there was no way I was getting through that shotgun room first try), and I found that the map was rather short, it didn't take much longer than 2 minutes, and there were 3 notable encounters. The first one was the window which you shoot the button through. I didn't interact with the chaingunner at all, it didn't shoot at me, and I didn't land my first shot, so I ignored it. The second encounter was the big boi, himself. On first playthrough I walked into the invulnerability sphere which was a mistake I could not have expected. The encounter itself felt like an enhanced remake of WOW.WAD, there wasn't any cover or anything to spice up the battle. The light in the middle of the skylight was pretty cool tho. The last encounter, the big shotgunner battle, was really surprising but I felt like me making it to the end felt more like a fluke than actual skill. Anyway, I hope I didn't come off as a complete asshole. As you said in the description, it is very gimmicky and surprising, and if that's all you were going for, you succeeded. Kind of like a more linear tricks and traps. I would recommend adding more rooms, and maybe a few more enemies. Best of luck to you, and thank you for reading my criticisms :)

Yes. that's the linear introduction of Devile IV the TwoShot X mapset. I will make more maps. I'm planning on making more gimmicks, some simple, some not.

It is with joy that TwoShot Corporation cuts the inauguration line for MAP02 Deck 2! Based on early ISV-Kran construction plans, legally stolen by the Union Aerospace Corporation, from their rival, New Earth Government, this should teach marines how to interact with simple puzzles involving hacking systems to obtain megaspheres, and other spaceship-like features. Obviously, since this is just a training field, we couldn't emulate an actual spaceship environment, with the need for space suits, or a space sky. Nonetheless, this ground will be of much use if the marines use their imagination!

Pictures in a separate point in time, for compilative reasons; cadets gradually take pictures, and we mix-dix it, which takes a while; only once those are ready, we can put them alongside the announcement!
