ok it is really fuck'n annoying, I figure it is some sort of freaking bot doing this. how do i stop the damn thing, or virus it, hack it, or other wise fuck with the damn thing? I hate this damn spam shit and i get tired of it eating up my email service. next inline to it is the emails with the klez virus( but got that covered with the newer virus scaners) anyway someone tell me how to disable the bot or person doing this

Perhaps if you had informed people in your post which program you used to access e-mail, how can someone be expected to help you on such limited info?

you may be able to block the address if you e-mail server allows it but chances are...the e mail address is different each time, if it's any consalation, both me and spike or getting some weird emails thrown at us, most of it is pretty sick as well. best advice is to to email their abuse center, the address is usally abuse@ (where ever the email was sent from eg.yahoo.com or whatever. good luck buddy

I'd agree that this is the best course of action. Make sure you email the ISP mentioned as the source in the headers though, not from the "From" field. eg. if it says, from xyz123@yahoo.com, dont email abuse@yahoo.com, look in the message headers at the top where it says something like:

(this is a random message header from my Inbox, one of my friends and not a spammer)

Received: from magpie.ecs.soton.ac.uk (magpie [152.78.68.131]) by rook.ecs.soton.ac.uk (8.9.1a/8.9.1) with ESMTP id WAA17878 for ; Thu, 12 Sep 2002 22:49:34 +0100 (BST)

Received: from gromit (dclient80-218-14-121.hispeed.ch [80.218.14.121]) by smtp.swissonline.ch (8.11.6/8.11.6/SMTPSOL/AWF/2002040101) with SMTP id g8CnHF14817 for fraggle@alkali.org>; Thu, 12 Sep 2002 23:49:17 +0200 (MEST)

Every time the email message goes through a new server the server adds a new line at the top, so the original source is at the bottom, in this case the mail originally came from dclient80-218-14-121.hispeed.ch. If this was spam you would contact abuse@hispeed.ch.

When you contact the ISP make sure you include full copies of the emails including the message headers.

You want a reverse DNS lookup, its trivial to do. There is a website that does it here
