IMJack Posted September 26, 2002 Music poll with a twist: What band or musical act have you "found" or "discovered" most recently? What was the last fairly new band you liked? Bonus points if it's a local act or a band nobody else has heard of. Put up a link if they have one. 0 Share this post Link to post
Little Faith Posted September 26, 2002 A pretty underground mostly instrumental hip-hop act from britan called: Techno Animal. Though the music is pure hip-hop the resulting soundscapes are almost industrialesque. The music is music is extremely aggressive but still manages to be it in a mellow way. It really has this claustrophobic and paranoid feeling to it that makes it perfect background music for dooming. Sixteen Horsepower is a cult band from the USA that plays what I would characterize as a bluegrass/punk crossover using rock instruments as well as fiddles and banjos. The result is an eerie, nasty, rattling clod of dirty midwestern folk/rock with buckets of bad attitude. Their lyrical universe is equally absurd seemlessly blending riotous punk sentiment with old-school midwest christianity. You might not agree with them, but their fire 'n brimstone rock is completely irresistable. 0 Share this post Link to post

Doom-Child Posted September 26, 2002 I haven't tried to find a new band ever since I found the musical goodness that is Led Zeppelin. Call me musically self-sequestered, but I never get tired of it. DC 0 Share this post Link to post

Psyonisis Posted September 27, 2002 A lot of music sucks nowadays... it used to be where lots of bands could blow you away the very first time you hear them. Personally, the newest stuff I listen to was made around 1999. 0 Share this post Link to post

mmnpsrsoskl Posted September 27, 2002 Heh. Blood Duster Even though i've heard of them before, i've only heard one song from them but now I have heard a lot more and like them very much. They are a Death Metal band from Australia, and have some very offensive title for their songs. Heh. One song that I heard (the first song of theirs I heard) is called pornstorestiffi, and yeah it's good. Another band I recently got into was Dream Theater. I must say they are an awesome band. Very deep and meaningful. I guess. I only bought their album, shit, can't remember the name. Hold on..........it's called Images and Words. haven't listened to it yet, but will now. Yeah. 0 Share this post Link to post

DesertEagle Posted September 30, 2002 One of my friends is hopelessly addicted to KMFDM (Kein Mitleid Fur Die Merheit, right? Which should translate to 'No Mercy For The Majority')... Ever since we got digital cable, I found a channel filled with German drinking songs and polka til either Oct. 3 or 13... 0 Share this post Link to post
CyRaptor Posted September 30, 2002 Best unknown band ever = The Marvelous 3 The lot of you probably wouldn't like them though. For shame. 0 Share this post Link to post
