D3D seems to have some rendering problems on my system, causing all manner of weird flickering lines and breaks in sectors.

So, OpenGL it is.

To clarify, none looks better.

And D3D doesn't work for me at all, so I'd prefer OpenGL in any case, even if it hadn't been the evil Micro$oft Empire that was behind D3D.

They look the same, but I prefer OpenGL as it is open source, faster and has never caused me any problems.
