3d Poly objects

Recommended Posts

So I'm making a map and I want to use a poly objects to create a bridge that slides out horizontally. I figured that a poly object would be the best way to do this but there is a problem. I can't get the poly objects to be a 3d floor. Is there any way to do this?

As you found out, for this, a polyobject would be the wrong construct to use. Especially when you consider that a polyobject does not have a solid floor or ceiling. Use solid 3D sectors instead.

Have a look at my tutorial in What use is a 3D construct - Extending a 3D bridge in the Tutorials section.

As others have explained, 3D polyobjects don't exist (yet). In addition to the sector-based method, you can consider a (possibly) more-realistic option. Use a model for your bridge, and use ZDooM trickery to make your bridge move in real-time. [Fair warning: This is not an easy method to understand or implement.]
