Recommended Posts

i have been searching all over the internet for the files that have the "install.bat" file in them, but no luck.

so, did the original floppy disk have an "install.bat" file on them?

There were multiple releases of Wolfenstein 3D, which might contain different installation files.  There are the original mail-order floppies from Apogee.  Then there was a retail release by GT Interactive (Apogee had nothing to do with this one).  And in Australia there was a retail release distributed by Manaccom.

The id Stuff version of Wolf3D (included in a locked form on some Quake discs) definitely comes with an install.bat file.

I have a big box CD-ROM copy of Spear of Destiny.  The disc does not include an install.bat, but it does have an install.exe.

Also, trying to find original games' installation files on abandonware sites (which aren't legal anyway) is obviously not very helpful, as you found out.

can you name an example of a 'site? wait... actually don't because that might be considered Warez.
