Custom voice pack (non brutal)

hi, i'm making a doom wad and i need to know if there is some way which allows the player (doomguy) to say random quotes and such after doing various things like seeing enemies, and picking stuff up

If you're making this for G/ZDoom you can create a CustomInventory item that executes a random sound in it's Pickup state, and give it to the player as soon as he "does something" ingame, either by using A_GiveToTarget in monsters death states or by replacing pickups with custom ones that also execute that random sound in the Pickup state.

thanks for the help! i might post the wad when i'm done!

 

also couldn't someone just make a invisible object that just plays the sounds? (but don't have any effects on the gameplay)

You can if you use CustomInventory, these are essentially items that don't actually spawn ingame unless you want them to, instead of spawning it you give it directly to the player when he/she does something.
