Not my all time favorite, but I've really been into Unreal and Unreal RtNP soundtracks lately. They sound so late 90s and I love it.

My all time favorite? Hmm... I'm gonna have to go with Doom and Doom 2. Bobby Prince created some amazing tracks for the game we all know and love.

Cool suggestions, here are some I haven't seen mentioned yet:

-Braid (My favs: "Lullaby set", "Downstream")

-Undertale (and deltarune) (My favs: "Undertale", "ASGORE", "Hopes and Dreams " and uh, quite a lot)

-Octopath Traveler (Liked quite a lot of tracks here as well, it has everything that makes a JRPG soundtrack rock!)

This is a game that gets a lot of flak, but this soundtrack is one of the crown jewels of video game music.

Flak be damned, Fez is an amazing game and the soundtrack is beautiful. I'm still sad that a bunch of people basically bullied the creator into cancelling the sequel for the awful crime of being a bit abrasive online.

I'd add:

Rez: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fyl74QjI5s4

Elite Beat Agents: (Yeah I know they're all just slightly crap covers, but somehow it really works) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpfdFxO99X4

Shadow of the Colossus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0hl3yL2Eso

Also, a bit obscure, but I've always loved the music for Spellbound Dizzy on the ZX Spectrum: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RX1vSMMby08

I'll do my best to quickly explain my choices while I'm at it.

Civilization III (wide range of styles and instruments, as well as some highly memorable tracks)

Dragon Ball FighterZ (hot take: it's a cut above the average Guilty Gear and Blazblue soundtrack)

Gundam Wing: Endless Duel (nostalgia plays into it, but it's just a good SNES fighting game OST)

Hacknet (it helps make typing on command lines feel cool, professional and edgy all at once)

Jill of the Jungle (sets a great tone of adventure and danger, but the real highlight is Peaks, which sounds beautiful)

Killer Instinct (2013) (Mick Gordon rules. But Celldweller and Atlas Plug did a good job in Season 3, especially with Eagle's Theme)

Morrowind (some of the best adventuring music ever)

Poly Bridge (just some pleasant acoustic guitar tracks. I can listen to them pretty much anywhere.)

Skyrim (some great battle and exploration music)

Soulcalibur II (one of the best fighting game soundtracks ever, full of striking orchestral music)

Street Fighter Alpha 3 (more rhythmic and less melodic than other SF OSTs, but that adds to the appeal)

Super Street Fighter II Turbo (compact and highly memorable compositions--the characters themes are all classics for good reason)

I don’t want to create a long list so I’ll just mention two games that jumped to mind instantly: Mario RPG has an absolutely gorgeous soundtrack that features many different moods and styles while being a showcase for just how nice music can sound on SNES. Rush 2 for N64 was pulling off some really sweet drum and bass especially considering the hardware. The game and soundtrack are both too good to be as obscure as they’ve become over the years.

Obviously many many more games could be mentioned for their beautiful/effective/etc scores but I’ll leave it at this.
