Seeking boxed "Doom Collectors Edition", "Doom Classic Complete", or something similar

Recommended Posts

I would love to have a big box (or even small box) of something like Doom Collector's Edition which contains all of the IWADS. I see some on Amazon, but they don't ship to Australia. There doesn't seem to be anything on eBay either.

It doesn't have to be the collectors edition, really any licensed boxed Doom collection would do - In fact I would prefer something that comes with the vanilla EXEs as opposed to Doom95. I miss having physical copies of the PC versions of Doom.

I know this is not a perfect solution / alternative, but I could offer you the original contents of the DOS installers extracted from my The Depths of Doom Trilogy + Final Doom (original version) discs, preserving the original capitalization, timestamps and whatnot. As for the IWADs’ timestamps, simply use 7-Zip to compress your personal matching copies into a ZIP with no compression (store method) and run either QuickPar or MultiPar to “repair” that ZIP and extract them from it (I am [ab]using par2 recovery blocks as some improvised form of binary diffing to recreate my ZIP with the original timestamps).

I have that exact collector's box in the picture, but sadly it has some liquid damage from an unfortunate leaky soda can incident. And I don't think I want to part with it just yet. I might end up needing the IWADs again myself in the future.

Oh man the Doom Collectors Edition big box really brings me back but makes me sad since I don't have it anymore. Got that and then later the small version back when they released as gifts for Christmas. Always reminds me of Christmas when I see those :)

Well, it seems you haven’t to create that zip file, actually. Just open the par2 file, add the four unmodified official IWADs as additional files and let it recreate the ZIP file which contains the IWADs with the original timestamps.

You’re welcome. I posted this extracted from my discs because I am aware that not having access to the entire / unmodified thing when purchased electronically via Steam / GOG could be annoying for certain people.
