Doom2 - Map 31/32

I've always wondered why the map scale was off. The maps are huge and out of proportion to the player.

Why did they make it like that?

John Romero's answer:

"It was just something Sandy Petersen was trying out -- making the levels look really big compared to the claustrophobic Wolf3D original levels. I didn't think it detracted from the gameplay...."
