This made me start reminiscing on some of those old TC projects that were killed in their crib, which I was sadly looking forward to, like Ninja Doom and Dracula Doom. To this day I still sometimes wonder what they would've been like.

I don't agree with that viewpoint.  The wayback machine is an 'objective' archiver that clearly states its objective as such, and leaves sites static as found with a clear marker. It's different in that regard from what you are doing, regardless of your well-meaning intentions, which is appropriating someone else's once-beloved work and putting it under your direct control and ownership.

 

Would be much better if you would put a tab above such a site, which clearly states the site below is abandoned by its former owner and archived for nostalgia purposes. Which is how the wayback machine is doing this.

I kind of like the idea of dead old Doom sites coming back as an unholy demonic corpse beyond the original creator's control. It's kind of fitting in a way! You'll always get my support with this, unfortunately I didn't have a Doom site though.
