THE 24-HOUR DOOM STREAM: Feb 8th - Feb 9th! Reccommend some wads for me to play!

The 24-hour Doom stream, or as I like to call it, DOOM DAY...

 

Since I'm an absolutely insane individual, I've decided to take on the herculean task of streaming classic Doom gameplay for a whopping 24 hours straight. What I need from all of you is recommendations for WADs to fill in all this time with! I would prefer 10-or-less maps per wad; small episodes or even single-map releases are highly welcome though I won't rule out stuff that's longer of course.

 

No doubt the question on your mind is "Why?!"

 

There are several answers to this inquiry:

• why NOT?
• because I CAN
• cuz i HAVE THE POWERRRRRRRRRR
• I think people will be entertained not only by the gameplay but by me most assuredly losing my mind in the final quarter
• I want to hold a Doomy record of some kind, I don't know if this will do it but I can try dammit

 

Now I'm not going to destroy my body and sit in one spot for 24 hours solid - don't be such a fool!!! No, I'll be taking a 5 minute water break, smoke break or stretch break here or there, but you can still expect to see well over 22 hours of Doom gameplay footage in total by the end. Well, that's my goal, anyway.

 

I'd love to have as many of you as possible come by, stick around for a bit, interact with me (I'll be reading and responding to live chat of course) and hopefully simply be entertained by this complete nonsense/madness. It's intended to be a hangout as much as a stream so please do drop in.

 

A few details:

I'll be streaming this on my YouTube channel. It will be streamed from 12:00 PM February 8th through to 12:00 PM February 9th, Aussie time (That's 1:00 AM Thursday to 1:00 AM Friday UTC, if I've done my calculations correctly). Super chats (the tip jar) will be open for those of you who are mighty generous but certainly do not feel pressured to tip.

 

I'll be using Zandronum just for the sake of ease and for generally good WAD compatibility. I'd prefer classic style stuff but I do not care how old or new the WAD is, only that it's not hot garbage. Don't hesitate to show me something obscure or perhaps a WIP of your own. A few turds may sneak in but overall I want to be playing decent Doomy turf but the standard is not strict. I have a few wads pre-selected and will be starting the stream (in the wee hours) with FAVA BEANS, but I'm gonna need a whole lot more than that to fill an entire DOOM DAY.

 

 

Please, let me know what you'd like me to play. I hope some of you find this weird little mission of mine entertaining and will at least join me for a chunk of the journey!

TVR! is a full megawad with short and easy (but very good! maps).

I would say Nuts as well but the wad is too laggy in (G)ZDoom-based ports.

Here is a few Doom 2 maps that you can add to your list. All single maps except Exl's Demons of Problematic is 5 maps and Karthik and Varun's Reanimated is 2 maps. Hopefully you'll have fun with this. I'll make a point of dropping in to watch you killing stuff and running off to get drinks and stuff.... maybe some cursing too. haha.

smfsp8 was a largely overlooked gem from 2017. 32 very short maps so you won't get bogged down at all, and many of them of the short sharp shock variety. Should be entertaining.

Tink is a fun little 4-map mapset that might be pretty stream-suitable.

 

Order of the Odanata is a fine recent one-map release too, if you're willing to jump to GZDoom.

 

On that subject, The Quirky Domain is something a little bit different too (again if you're willing to use GZDoom).
