How to open XDRE?

Recommended Posts

How do I use xdre? There doesn't seem to be much information about how to use it out there, and just trying to open the .exe doesn't work. I tried using the command line, dragging wads/lmps on it, everything, but I just can't figure it out.

You need to place doom/doom2 wad into the folder with the exe. Make a shortcut for the exe and have something like this:

F:\xdre2\xdre.exe -iwad doom.wad

or if you want to run doom2 as an iwad:

F:\xdre2\xdre.exe -iwad doom2.wad

and if you want to play hr2.final.wad:

F:\xdre2\xdre.exe -iwad doom2.wad -file hr2final.wad

Yes, you need many shortcuts if you use it on many different wads.

I just tried that, and it doesn't work. I'll enter in "xdre.exe -iwad doom.wad" (which is the IWAD I have in the folder with xdre), open the shortcut, and it won't open anything at all. I also tried opening it in the command line using "xdre.exe -iwad doom.wad" and that didn't work either. I tried both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and neither of those worked. Is there something I'm missing here?

EDIT: nvm, tried a different version and it worked, thanks

EDIT: Another quick question, how do I scroll through the tics? I can't seem to change what tic I'm on
