Shawny Posted May 5, 2019 A smaller map made in about 30 hours (bacause I missed the 24 hour goal mark). I decided to map a speed-ish map because I cannot focus on any bigger project. I may or may not do a bigger wad/megawad in this format eventually. The map has jumping and crouching disabled, mouselook is enabled but it is not mandatory. The map format is GZDoom: Doom 2 UDMF. (Although no fancy stuff like advanced scripting, dynamic lights etc. is used) Tested on GZDoom 3.6.0. Screenshots... Walter confetti Posted May 5, 2019 Looks pretty good... is it made 30 hours continously with some short breaks or with long breaks between mapping process? 2 Share this post Link to post
Shawny Posted May 5, 2019 (edited) Quote Looks pretty good... is it made 30 hours continously with some short breaks or with long breaks between mapping process? 30 hours in-editor, across 5 days of active development. (About 6 hours a day.) Layout, texturing, triggers and lighting took about 25 hours. Things placements 2 - 3 hours. Testing 2 - 3 hours. The layout was made during the first 25 hours of development from scratch with no pre-thoughts, although AFTER I had created ageneral layout of the map I was thinking about enemy placements and edits even when I was not actively working in-editor. Like during lunch, bath, before sleep etc. so that may be considered "cheating". That is like +1 - 2 hours of "passive development" Edited May 5, 2019 by Shawny : Added quote 2 Share this post Link to post

xvertigox Posted May 6, 2019 Solid map. The flows good and the combat is varied and challenging enough. 1 Share this post Link to post
Suitepee Posted May 14, 2019 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/424889104 I playtest this at 2 hours and 24 minutes (2:24:10) into the livestream. A fun speedmap. 1 Share this post Link to post

Does anyone know when a speed map stops being a speed map? :p The sessions round here make me think of them as being an hour or few but I guess it is also an attitude n there's not a strict definition I liked btw thanks keep it up 1 Share this post Link to post

Generally it's fairly short i.e 24hr but it can vary. 1 Share this post Link to post

I know some people can crank pretty neat map in absurd time. Anyway, I wanted to thank you all for your support, I´m glad you enjoyed the map. I have some ideas and gimmicks in my mind for some future maps, so hopefully I get to make a bigger wad (in this speedmap-ISH format). 1 Share this post Link to post
