You know what I love about Doom, the idTech1 engine and building/modding for it?

Once you understand how the engine works, what it's limitations are and what you CAN'T do with it...
You suddenly realise all the things you CAN do with it!! ;)

They're great books that compliment each other. There kinda meant to be read in order: Wolf3d, then Doom. The Wolf book describes a lot of the hardware stuff that also applies to Doom. Strictly, you don't need the Wolf book to read the Doom book, but you get more info about both games with both books - info that's hard to find anywhere else.

it's a really good book. 

Sanglard wrote some interesting articles , too, and he wrote another book about Wolf 3D
