Any help with GZDoom start error? - Solved!!

Question

Hi there,

I'm busy working on my mapset, which will be my first hub-set and after including the mapinfo-lumpI get the following error when starting the map(s).

Everything works totally fine playwise, but of course it's not really nice to start with a list of error-messages. What did I do wrong here?image.png.76b120f0c458a7c93b6b5c25a27417df.png

Also - when checking the map in Slade it gives me the following error-message, which in my opinion is useless, because obviously in the 3 maps so far I need all these entries 3 times, or am I wrong?

I'm sure this all is only a minor problem and ZDoom-specialists will have a laugh about it, but before I destroy anything while trying to fix it, asking is better. :)

That's a real mess of a wad I'm afraid.  You've got things like the Map01 lumps inside the SS_START and SS_END markers (so the game is thinking they're sprites).  You need to tidy the whole thing up.

Mind posting an image of the main Slade3 screen? My guess is you placed the maps inside of each other accidentally.

Yeah - I thought it would be something like this, but I couldn't find any helpfull tutorial for this problem. :)

Here are the files:

Hope these are the infos you need. :)

Thanks in advance...

Put anything that isn't part of the regular map data (The ones you shouldn't move are THINGS, LINEDEFS, SIDEDEFS, SEGS, SSECTORS, NODES, SECTORS, REJECT, BLOCKMAP, BEHAVIOR and SCRIPTS) at the top of the file, and make sure they aren't inbetween any MAPXX markers, which causes the error you saw.

That was what I was missing. Man, it's really hard to get into mapping DOOM again after 15 years of absence. I had totally forgotten what the markers were for.

Error gone, case closed - thanks for the help @Bauul, @-TDRR- and @DynamiteKaitorn. :)
