We know Doom as a series took inspiration from Alien (since the originals) and possibly Pacific Rim, knowing Hugo Martin.

But i know for a fact the Doomguy doesn't need one.

Wonder if they actually do something or if they're just part of the scene. Probably grappling points or barriers blocking some areas, but unlikely.

If we'll use a mech, I bet it ends with the mech getting pinned down with demons, and Doomslayer just punches his way out of the cockpit and jumps out to continue the carnage.
