Getting switches to work

Recommended Posts

I have a problem with a switch , set a linedef with a tag same as the door's sector , lines are facing outwards . When cursor is on the linedef , sector highlights properly , despite that , the switch still doesn't work .image.png.5a3a22145c8743a9cc71bc3febf67aed.png

Try placing the switch against a wall, rather than halfway across a room. Using a mid-texture for a switch can get rather messy (Some DooM engines may not even register it as a switch (cannot confirm)).

Looks like DB1?

It's hard to tell from just a screenshot.

That said, I have 2 questions:

1. If the door face linedefs and its sector are the only thing that's tagged, then it should work.

2. But If the switch is on the small 42x? sector you have at the bottom of the screenshot, then that's the line def that needs flipped and tagged to your door sector.

Mr.Rocket is correct.

The switch linedef is indeed the culprit.

Flip it and the door will work.
