Looking for a good weapon + monsters combo

What weapon + randomised monsters mod combo can you reccomend? 

Played with X-Weapons but it seemed that the game became too easy.

I kinda promote this a little too much but La Tailor Girl is a complete twist to the usual "gun replacement" mod by adding a whole load of different armours that all come with unique effects.

Hege also created Colourful hell, a mod where the usual enemies from DooM have been re-coloured and each colour tier effects how difficult they are. (Blue/green are easy whereas black/white tier like to kill you in 1-2 hits :3)

Not so much a "monster combo" mod but a good mod for Heretic runs is Wayferer's Tome. It basically fixes up many of Heretic's weaponry, making them far more useful.
